Imagine Shellder/Cloyster are underwater, propelling themselves backwards with little thrusts of air. Clamperl walks the same way in the Gen III video.

I just remembered.
Quite a few times NPC's would mention whoever is first in your party, something like "Anon! Are you and Decidueye ready?"
NPC's shouldn't have anyway of knowing who's first in your party so they must've been able to see them following you.
When they removed the feature Game Freak was lazy and didn't remove the lines.

meh they probably tried it and made it ran even worse on 3ds

Sun and Moon was originally planned for Switch only but bumped into 3ds. kinda why even the n3ds is having problems running SM and they contain walking/running animations. and they could be getting ready for a PBR 2 maybe?
