Then when I'm trying to grind eggs to hatch today, I step into grass for a minute and find a shiny Alola Raticate.

I was playing through sun, really couldnt decide on which pokemon i wanted to use. Used the island scanner and got totodile. Went to seaward cave, found my totodile and caught it. Leave cave and walking through yellow grass and find an oricorio. Saw it pop up with white pom-poms and kinda thought "Isn't that shiny?" and then I saw the sparkle and got really excited.

This thing popped out while I was trying to breed for good IVed Hydro Pump/Dragon Pulse Bagons. It has Best stats on HP, Def, Sp.Def and Speed while it's Sp.Atk is Decent. I didn't want it to go to waste so I'm grinding it to Hyper Train it. Currently at 86 right now

Gentle nature 3 IVs, not too shabby if I say so myself. Its level 43 now. Caught it yesterday haha

All 3 non legends in this box are shiny.

I haven't chained at all, I bumped into all of them throughout my game naturally, I only have about 30ish hours and most of those I wasn't paying attention.

None yet in Sun. Got three shiny zigzagoons so far from hordes while EV training.

My favorite non-trade obtained shiny so far is my ORAS shiny hatched adamant 31/31/31/30/31/31 Beldum. Jolly seems to be the go-to nature for it but Mega-Gross still wrecked in the Battle Maison.

I encountered 2 shiny Bagons on the same battle while finding a Salamence.

I killed the original shiny and kept the newer one.

I found and caught another shiny Bagon the battle before.

Same thing happened with Snorlax, I encountered a shiny Munchlax before I ever saw a Snorlax.

A few months ago, I was playing Alpha Sapphire and I was telling my friends how I once accidentally killed a shiny Wingull. They asked how and I said it was in a horde and I couldn't tell which one was shiny. I decided to show them the difference between shiny and non-shiny Wingull so I encountered one with the dexnav and said 'this is what a regular Wingull looks like.'
A green fucking Wingull appeared. We all lost our shit. I still have my Peligod and next year he's going to Alola with the rest of my squad.

Here's a story for you: Once upon a time, I started playing Pokemon. Almost twenty years later, I still haven't encountered a legitimate shiny outside of Red Gyarados.

S/M is looking to be another shinyless generation for me, too, since I'm at the E4 already.

I honestly didn't realize he hatched until I was rotating a couple out into the PC.

I got a shiny Crabrawler when I was throwing a box of breedjects onto Wondertrade just yesterday. Was also the first time I ever got a shiny that wasn't the red Gyarados or hacked in all the fifteen years I've been playing these games.

I've been working on the dex for my shiny charm, and I decided I'd be better off chaining for a dragonite (10% chance apparently, so shouldn't take too long) and then breed for the others, thus reducing the amount of time needed to level them up and evolve them.

however, a while into the chain (which took longer than expected) this little cure snek turned up.

I'm not sure I can bring myself to evolve her. dragonair's just so much better - both in design and in shiny - than dragonite.

does anyone know if you can chain pokemon found via island scanner

Bred a shiny Popplio after having NO luck getting shinies in previous gens (Only time I got a shiny successfully was a Pupitar In Platinum)

I never, NEVER saw a shiny but this red, worthless Garados fuck.

I was playing Pokemon Sun and recently beat the ghost trial. I wanted a Mimikyu because I thought it was really cool so I looked around for one. I found one but it had a shitty nature and I was very autistic when it came to natures. I kept looking for a better Mimikyu and I found one that was shiny. I gasped in shock and caught it and was super happy since it had a good nature

Ran through Chargestone cave when I was playing BW years ago and found a shiny Ferroseed. Went out of my way to fish for a shiny Feebas in ORAS, though the spot [under the bridge, feels only] and chain-fishing made my autism think the shiny was cheapened as a result.

either because it's a shiny ditto in and of itself, and people like shinies.

or because a lot of hackers who produce 6 IV dittos (which are the best possible for breeding) tend to make their dittos shiny. thus, many breeders use hacked shiny 6 IV dittos.

but for the most part, people don't care too much about a ditto's shininess.

My first shiny encounter was in leaf green
I was around 8, and just beat the Pokemon league for the first time with my level 100 dodrio. I loaded up the game and immediately went north from pallet town. The first encounter was a shiny rattata. I didn't know what it was and thought it was some sort of prize for beating the elite four so I caught it with the master ball
I showed my cousin and he told me that it was a game breaking glitch that makes them a different color and that I should release it before my game gets corrupt so I released it

once me and a friend started a shiny race on HGSS for a shiny starter, we'd literally just agreed to it when 2 SRS later, i found a shiny totodile. their reaction was priceless

I was testing SOS battles with Togedemaru simply to get used to the process, when a shiny popped up. First shiny I've ever gotten in the wild, and I didn't even want it.

Of course, now I love the little guy.

Just caught this little nigger through SOS chaining. I lucked out and got a jolly nature without synchronize. Perfect HP attack and defense.

During gen 5 I couldn't trade so I couldn't use the MM for breeding but wanted to try my luck anyway. I filled the pc with Totodile eggs before I started hatching them and after around 8-10 boxes, I hatched the first shiny I ever bred and she was a shiny of my favorite starter. I boxed her while I finished hatching the eggs and the very last egg I had hatched her a shiny brother. I couldn't believe my luck but this story doesn't have a happy ending. Fast forward to the days of BW2, just a few months before the release of XY. My little sister wanted to play a pokemon game so I started a new file for her on White 2 and guess who I forgot to transfer first? I lost both shiny Feraligatr, a shiny Elekid and shiny Growlithe I found in Verbank complex, a shiny Roserade I caught as a Budew in Platinum and a couple other shinies I had. I miss those Feraligatr.
