I would love a plain romhack of HG/SS with just new pokes added up to at least gen VI, but I can't find such a thing..

For DS i've only tried Blaze White/ Volt Black. They are pretty cool and even there's for B&W2

Pokemon Insurgence is a pretty good fan game, its currently up to gym 6 but the final version should be coming out soon with all legendaries and and a second region with even more story

The various fan games made with Pokemon Essentials (a modification of RPG Maker XP that's built for making Pokemon games) have had very mixed results. The big 3 right now are Pokemon Insurgence, Pokemon Reborn, and Pokemon Rejuvenation.

All 3 have actually decent gameplay, give you access to a lot of mons, actually are pretty difficult at times, and have pretty cool worlds to explore, have really good music, but the stories and characters for each are atrocious. Insurgence is the """"best"""" in that regard but it's still edgy as hell. Rejuvenation is the worst and it's amazingly bad, the villain literally kills people with a sword named after a Kill la Kill character. If you can look past that, they're good.

There's also a bunch of other fan games made with Essentials like Uranium and Ethereal Gates which I understand are good. Poke around.

I saw news sites acting like it was going to get taken down but nintendo has never really done anything about rom hacks. It's not like they are just going to upload a prepatched file. If they did it would be straight up piracy not a fan game.

Does anyone know the name of the cringy goth fan-made game? I think it was based off the third or fourth gen games.
