Get a high level Butterfree (around 50), teach it Thief, then save in the Poni Plains. Run into both of the rustling patches and Thief any Hariyama that jump out. Soft-reset when both are gone and continue until you steal a King's Rock

Then used my evolved pokemon to get shit like porygon z, which in turn I traded for weavile

Once you get to weavile you got a golden ticket to everything on the GTS

Finished a full Live Dex after 160 hours with tons of idle time just listening to the music.
Transferred my whole Live Dex over to Sun, put each of the 300 mons in and out of the daycare to register them, then got the Shiny Charm on a new save file as soon as I hit the second island!!
The only things I omitted for my LD are all the Minior colors and Zygarde 50-100%, but I caught each of the Oricorio.

I have every single fully-evolved Pokémon available in Alola, including formes like all Oriocorio's formes, all Minior colors and a Dog Zygarde I snagged from the GTS. No pre-evos for now, I'm saving the work of making a living dex for when the bank opens. I also have all the UBs, as well as Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma and Magearna

I also have every QR Scanner exclusive fully evolved except Doublade and Lampent, I'm waiting for my PokéPelago mine slaves to dig up some Dusk Stones.

Currently the only available pokémon I'm missing are the Tapu (I want them for competitive too, so I've been soft-reseting for good natures/IVs, so far no luck) and Greninja because I didn't play the demo. Not really interested in Ashnime shit, so miss me with that shitty OC Greninja

Not him, but I personally prefer preparing for a living dex while doing the regular dex. That means I will catch enough of a species to be able to get the full evolution line without having to go back to that area or spend tons of time breeding. Less shiny chance, I guess, but it speeds up the process. I am delaying breeding competitive mons for when I do have the charm, however, as I want that sweet shiny chance.

Minor update, my fine miners retrieved a Dusk Stone from PokéPelago and I evolved the Doublade, so only Lampent left to evolve, and the Tapu to catch.

Then I can slowly descend into madness as I breed and Ev train pokémon for competitive uses

ALL reasonable trades are done within 10 seconds.
You are just looking through the leftover unreasonable trades.

I got 90%+ completion through breeding a rare mon and trading it for just about anything.

You will see what I mean if you go into GTS and continuously search and back out. The good trades are there, but there are tons of people looking for the same pokemon at all times.

You're using GTS wrong. What you're supposed to do is to deposit your own pokémon and ask for a fair trade. If you for example ask for something like Mandibuzz for Braviary or Kadabra for Kadabra, those requests will be sniped almost immediately

The reason you only see people asking for legendaries on GTS is because the actual fair trades are fullfilled most of the time. Also, if you play your cards right, you can get awesome stuff from GTS with regular pokémon. I got a Celesteela for a Blissey and a ZygardeDog for a Castform

I'd definitevely recommend hitting /wfg/ up sometime too. All trade + item evolutions I got them by trading with those guys. They are alright

Weather SOS exclusives. Gible is a good start, but Castform is also a solid choice. QR Scanner exclusives. Dhelmise, Relicanth, Marearnie and other pokémon with very low rates. Chanseys appear fairly easy if you chain Riolus on Poni Gauntlet. I chained them because I wanted a Lucario, but it never showed up, but a shitload of Chanseys spawned instead. Ended up getting a 4IV HA Riolu for my troubles, and got a Chansey on the second chain.

I just spent a while SRing for specific hidden power/nature combos on Xurkitree and some of the tapus, so I want to take a break before SRing for the rest (I do use synchronize if you're wondering). I'm eager to start breeding for the Battle of Alola competition, so I'd like to have the shiny charm before that and I have some rarities I don't mind trading away on the GTS (namely because I got them from the GTS in the first place, so I'm not losing anything irreplaceable).

K here's an example.
I've had a Mareanie up for Goomy all day and haven't gotten anything.

Finished it after two weeks I think.

I sort of rushed it via GTS. Like offer kadabra for kadabra, then offer alakazam for golem, golem for another trade evolved 'mon etc etc.

I had a friend trade with me so I can get a magmator. With that I offered him up for other trade item evolved pokemon because I already had a magmator on the bank so I didn't care to keep it if it meant filling the dex fast. Same thing with rare spawns. Once I found a vanilluxe I'd offer it for castform, offer that for dragonair etc etc.

Keep backing out and checking on the mons you want. You can often snipe a good one for a shitmon - they just get snatched up super quick.

Also your Mareanie is lost in the mix at this point. Either redeposit for a Goomy to move to the front of the queue or try to trade for another weather SOS and then breed that one. They're all pretty much on the same tier so some Japanese player will eventually trade you for one.

Whats the etiquette for GTSing Porygon 2 and Z?

I have a Porygon up with the Upgrade, and asking for a Porygon 2, and i'm still waiting, as opposed to the other trade evos?

Perfect 100%, including alternate forms. All I "need" is one more Manearna so I can group it together when its alternate form comes out while keeping one in the numerical order dex too.

I'm at 81% I think. GTSing for completion is for cowards who don't want to actually play the game, unless it just doesn't exist in your version. Even so, I have a friend with Sun to do trade evos and exclusives with, and between him and another friend, all three starters available, so maybe I need to check my privilege.

100%'d fairly easily. Plenty of friends had sun, and I played through sun myself to get extra legends for living dex (Cosmog, Null, etc).

Politoed was a huge fucking pain in the ass, because I felt like SOSing for him instead of thiefing a Hairyama. Masterball'd him when he tried to perish song me. Stupid fucker.

As far as trading to get exclusives goes, if you do some digging on the GTS you can get most stuff. Buzzwole was the hardest to get, Kartanas are thankfully easy as piss to find.
