They aren't, you have to be blind to not see it, The grass looks so sharp and have much more realistic colors, compared to the models which are very cartoony, with round shapes, and blurried.

To make grass on the same level as the pokemon:

To make the pokemon on the same level as the grass:

To make the pokemon models fits in, it would need much more than that. He would need to give some shine to their eyes, fangs, and nails. Add sharpier angles to the bones, and redraw the mesh completely.

I'm not a fan of just putting down Pokemon in a hyper realistic environment. Pokemon does best at imitating the feel of the sprites, the cel shading and the black outline are part of that. Something like Ni no Kuni 2 would be a better example of what the the current models are capable of.

Still, it looks nicer than I thought it would, like Incineroar's fire.
