Battle Tree thread.

Has anyone tested DD Multiscale Dragonite in it? Does the confusion nerf help it significantly?
>>

On the topic of dragonite with HA, any egg moves I should breed onto this thing? I'm considering aqua jet.

Once bank hits, it definately needs Extreme Speed. They really should make that easier to get though, having just one egg move require a game from 2009 is dumb.

My Red has Espeon and Alolan Raichu. Is that good enough for multi's or should I try to recruit a different one?
>>

>They really should make that easier to get though
What Pokemon in the Dragon egg group should get Extreme Speed, then? My vote goes to Drampa.
>>
>>30700046

DDnight was never held back by confusion.
Dominating singles since they put them on trains!
>>
What are some good items to get before stocking up BP? I have the Life Orb, Expert Belt and Lum/Sitrus/type berries
>>
I dont know what to use the battle tree cause I want to be a special snowflake but also be capable of winning.
>>
>>30700435
I'd just use whatever hits the hardest from that list, I think power is more important than bulk for this thing

Do what I did. Pick a mon you want to play with and then build around it.

I got through Super Singles (left it at 50 wins) with Drampa who I wanted to play with, Mega Scizor, and Tapu Lele.
>>
Specially Defensive Buzzwole is fun as fuck, holy shit. If it doesn't have wings this nigga isn't going down.
Currently debating whether or not to stick with Leftovers or switch over to an Assault Vest once I can buy it.
>>30700414
Steal a Leftovers from a Munchlax. Also, the "heals in a pinch but causes confusion if the Pokemon dislikes the taste" berries are better than Sitrus this gen, they now heal 50% of your health in a pinch with no drawback if you know your flavors.
>>
>>30700359
Just...give it to Dragonite. He's the one that gets the move anyway, and you don't have to potentially unabalance any other dragons.
>>
>>30700328

>>30700328
2 Reds? N-Nani?
>>
>>30700629
No Bulk Up, since I originally intended it to be an AV set only using Lefties until I could afford it. I find Beast Boost does well enough. I run Careful with max HP/Special Defense investment, Leech Life/Ice Punch/EQ/Brick Break for reliability over Hammer Arm. Even without the Vest it tanked Gothitelle's Psychic from ~55% HP and barely feels most Dazzling Gleams, however, an Assault Vest would let it survive shit like Life Orb Alakazam's Psychic, which is huge.
>>
>>30700224
Nature of your Nihilego?
>>
>>30700226
>>30700359
>>30700533
Drampa, thematically, makes no sense IMO. I wish they'd make Noivern Flying/Dragon egg groups and give it Extreme Speed.

Then that could breed with Dragonite.
>>
>>30700752
Timid, it outspeeds everything with that troll speed and a positive nature and LO+Beast Boost makes up for the tiny bit of lost special attack big time. I like to use Power Gem, Dazzling Gleam, Thunderbolt and Sludge Wave.
>>
>>30700752

Timid is considered best since with max sp.atk and speed since with equal investment, beast boost will still boost sp.atk.
>>
>>30700733
I'm running almost the same set, just with power up punch instead. Ass vest, too.
It might be my favorite tree mon. Accumulating boosts and then leeching back to full hp feels amazing. Surviving Zam psychic and then firing back with leech life is glorious.
>>
>>30700786
Didn't realize jellyfish got t-bolt
I've been running grass knot. Saved my ass quite a few times against things that would've walked all over me otherwise.
>>
>>30700661
They're good scout targets, at the least. Can't go wrong when your teammate is using legendaries.
>>
I scouted Kiawe and he has a Mega Kangaskhan with Fake Out. He's been such a fucking bro in Multi Battles because he can Fake Out and flinch a target while my Porygon-Z safely sets up Z-Conversion.

Not sure who my second should be so I just went with M-Salamence. Any suggestions?

Garchomp, Fini is weak to Electric and Mega Scizor doesn't resist it, and the rest of your team handles Garchomp's weaknesses well.

Just beat Super Singles match 50 on my first try. I got really lucky. Red's Mega Charized Y missed with heat wave against my Buzzwole and in the end I won with 0 pokemon alive as Mimikyu died from life orb recoil.

My team was:
Wishiwashi leftovers
Mimikyu life orb
Buzzwole Assault Vest.
>>
>>30701661
That 50% dragon move damage decrease from Misty Terrain sucks though, but it could also help Garchomp in case it gets hit by a dragon move.

I've been thinking about using a Krookodile, is it good enough for Battle Tree?
>>
>>30700497
Everything I want to use has a glaring Fire weakness I dont know how to cover because fire type moves get decent distribution
>>
>>30701735

It's good enough for 3v3 normally, but be sure to not lead with him. Otherwise, you'll see nothing but special attackers.
>>
My current team is:
Pheromosa
A-Marowak
Top Lele

Should I switch pheromosa and use everyone's favorite OU landshark?
>>

>>

Life Orb or Fightium Z so you have a100% accurate, super powerful Fighting type attack that's almost gaurunteed to get you a Beast Boost against anything that doesn't resist it.

Who are the ones you want to use? If you can't cover it with your second pick, you cover it with your third.

And remember no team is perfect.

Anyway, for example, I know that Chandelure beats both Scizor and Tapu Lele, so Drampa capitalizes on dealing with it. I know that Blaziken and Infernape and Emboar can beat both Drampa and Scizor, so I EV'd my Tapu Lele to be able to take a Flare Blitz from Blaziken while it naturally resists Fighting 4x, and holds a Scarf.

>>
>>30704522
I used

Thrash
EQ
Flamethrower (gets the same kills and is more accurate than Fire Blast)
and Draco Meteor for any dragons that might tank a thrash

I used Naive but Jolly is good too
>>
>>30700967
I've been conflicted which to use as well. Grass knot kicks Golurks and the like's ass whereas TB could definitely have come in handy
>>
>>30705573

Yes. Once it's level 3, it's 4 evs per session.
>>
Do Xurkitree and Marowak work well together in Doubles? I feel like between Xurk's enormous Sp. Attack Discharge/Energy Ball and Marowak's good coverage and Bulk/Thicc Club they could handle just about everything but a pair of ground types.
>>
>>30705823
Nice I already maxed out the Pelago some time ago. So I guess I can finally get back to hunting.
>>
>>30706007
Marowak will redirect Xurkitree's tbolts so it can only use discharge which might be unable to get crucial KOs. They're also both kind of slow so you might want to use something like trick room or tailwind.
>>
Current team which I used to get 62 is.

Dragonite
Aegislash
Fini

Going to use this till bank as it's really easy to get 30 wins but I feel like fini could be replaced with a lot of things. Tried to make a team around Mimikyu for quicker wins but 90% accuracy on play rough sucks.
>>
I'm contemplating using Eeveeium Z for doubles now. Maybe even singles. Extreme Evoboost + Baton Pass, switch into Milotic or M-Scizor for example. I think it might wreck.
>>
>>30706297
The problem with that is that you need two turns (okay, one and a half) for that to work, and Eevee dies to everything. And you can't Sash it or slap on an Eviolite.
I'd say it's a no-go in Singles, but it might work in Doubles with redirection support/possibly Friend Guard.
>>
I've almost beat super singles gonna start breeding my doubles team. I want something rain with drizzle peliper and probably tapu Koko. What else should I use? Maybe Kingdra and ....
>>
>>30706540
Well. I've caught a 4IV Eevee with the right IVs (HP, Spe, SpD, Def) and I intended to train EVs to 252 speed and HP. Also making it Timid.
I do intended to use for Doubles, since my partner is Cynthia who starts out as Garchomp. I'd say it's worth the risk, since whenever I get it to work it's gg. Not to mention with this set, and I can go first, it might be capable of taking a hit thanks to the +2 in Def and SpD.
>>
>>30706603
Toxapex with Toxic Spikes?
>>
I've got a Garchomp and a Mimikyu ready for Singles, what should my Third Pokemon be?
>>
>>30706683
Suicide Pheromosa. Focus Sash
It's what I use, and I beat normal singles easy.
>>

>>
>>30706297
You can use Whimsicott in singles, Prankster Tailwind+Memento and then boost and pass with eevee, but the strategy relies on not being crit, which makes it too risky and unsuitable for long streaks.
>>
Current team:

Mimikyu @ Focus Sash
Jolly nature 252 atk 252 spd

-Play Rough
-Leech Life

Aqua Jet

Sucker Punch
Leech Life

Kartana @ Expert Belt
Jolly Nature 252 atk 252 speed
Leaf Blade
Smart Strike
Sacred Sword
Night slash

Has gotten me a good streak so far.

>>
>>30706950

this literally only works with Muk, since it's the only Pokemon that
1. has gluttony

Because Multiscale and a Lum Berry make it easy for him to get a Dragon Dance off. Dance dances brings his attack stat into OHKO range for a lot of shit and he'll outspeed loads of stuff after it as well.

Mimikyu @ Red Card/Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Nature Jolly/Adamant
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Claw
- Facade/Shadow Sneak

Garchomp (havent thought of a set)

Marowak (also no set yet)

is 2 ghost types too much?
>>
>>30713744
Swap Facade/Shadow Sneak for Leech Life

At 80 power, even if it's not Stab, if you are lacking HP by the second mon coming out, you can use it to bulk yourself back up. Use Life orb on Mimi

You probably want something bulky in Marowaks place
>>
>>30713811
good point. I'm an idiot and i didnt Synchronize/SR my UB's or Guardians so i can't run those. Is Mudsdale good for BT?
>>
>>30713862
Well, I ran Mimiky/Togekiss/And a shitty main game Mudsdale that wasn;t trained, and I got though regular singles just fine with it

I may have gotten lucky. However, I only got to 9 wins in Super Singles...mainly because Plumeria kicked my ass with a Nasty Plotx2+focus sashed Salazzle

So, maybe? It was more useful than I expected to be
>>
>>30713744
This except without the marowak, still thinking about the 3rd mon

Does affection bonuses count in the tree?

Also I'm using Kartana and Megamence and its working great, but I'd like a third.

No, that'd make the Battle Tree a cakewalk.

I'd recommend Chandelure over Hydreigon for the first two, for typing reasons. Kartana and MegaMance are also plenty fast.

Nope, affection doesn't affact facilities or multiplayer. It's purely for over world exploring bros.
>>
>>30714070
What team?
>>
Is it even possible to get a 50 streak in multi if you have an AI partner
>>
>>30710254
Try A-Marowak for your fourth, and pair him with top kek since he absorbs discharges like a champ thanks to lightningrod
>>
>>30715110
Yeah it is. I got myself a lead Scarf Eruption Entei partner just today, which was who I used to beat the Maison's Super Multi in both X and OR by pairing it with my Mega Charizard Y.

I'll figure out who to contribute in lieu of it, but you basically want AI partners with Choiced mons so they're more controlled in what they do.
>>
So here's my team at the moment:

Xurkitree @ Salac Berry
Timid Nature
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Thunderbolt
Energy Ball
Dazzling Gleam
Tail Glow

Greninja @ Waterium Z
Timid Nature
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Water Shuriken
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Dark Pulse

Kartana @ Life Orb
Adamant Nature
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Leaf Blade
Smart Strike
Night Slash
Sacred Sword

I got to 19 wins before losing to Grimsley (>>30709289 was my post, I said this earlier), and the way I see this, I'm either dropping Kartana or replacing its Life Orb with a Focus Sash, because if I get put in the same situation again, I want to have a chance. Xurkitree has been doing great with Tail Glow sweeping, and Greninja is a great revenge-killer, so if Kartana goes, another physical attacker is taking its place.
>>
>>30716469
The problem with your team is it's too offensive and fragile. Just wait till you get to the mid-20s when they start using Megas. I fought a Mega Aero with Fire Fang that came to mind when I saw your composition.

Bulky setup sweepers that cover each other and one offensive revenge killer is the way to go. Or in a similar vein, one big attacker to plow through things, and two switch-ins in the back that covers as much ground as possible.

I'm >>30700497 for the record. Drampa was CM Roost and Mega Scizor was SD Roost. Scarf Lele was in the back and helped me handle things like Blaziken.

Dragon + Steel + Fairy is a very solid core.
>>
>>30716880
>Drampa
>Roost

What the fuck? Drampa gets fucking Roost?
>>
>>30716981
Yeah and it's great. While setting up CM you can let them get you a little bit low so you get into Berserk range before healing up, or just spam Roost as they damage you with moves that do ~50% to get free Berserk boosts.
>>
>>30717050
Jesus Christ.

That's destructive as fuck. What? Why isn't Drampa getting any love? That's a god damn awesome combo, I'm gonna raise one tomorrow.
>>
How the fuck do you hear different music for special trainers like Anabels theme or Colress' theme? Im on a 61 streak and ive been switching the music around but it stays thr same unless I change it. Only time it changed was fighting Red.

>Dragon-Steel-Fairy core

So I'm thinking Drampa, Celesteela, and Mimikyu
Or should I swap Mimikyu for something with more longevity?
>>
>>30717133
6v6/Smogon is too fast-paced for it at the moment with things everywhere that can stop it from setting up. It is appreciated in VGC since it's great in Trick Room (I remember seeing that Torkoal team use it).

The Battle Tree is where it can especially shine, since it's not like its predictability matters there. I wanted to use it for fun and just built around it when I was deciding how to start my team, and it worked out well.
>>
I need a Modest Tapu Fini to complete my team if anyone would like to trade or such.
>>
>>30717297
Yeah something with more longevity. One of the mons that gave me a good deal of trouble was Red's Mega Charizard Y, since it packs both Heat Wave and Focus Blast, so I was glad I had Lele. Wally's Analytic Magnezone can also dismantle the core if Drampa's not out and you end up switching it into a Flash Cannon, which is why I had put Brick Break on my Scizor. I'm sure other NPCs can run them too, so just think about mons that can break your team 2 at a time.
>>
>>30716880
I'll take this advice into consideration. I'll keep Greninja as it fills the revenge killer role just fine. Kartana is definitely frail, and not because of it's typing. Xurkitree does fine, but I could probably do better. With all the shit I'm hearing about Drampa, I might get one now. Out of curiosity, how does it do even with its abysmal speed stat?
>>
I managed to fight Red and fucked me over with his charizard and fire fang. I went with mimikyu, buzzwole and bamboo rocket
>>
>>30717505
Its speed doesn't really matter. The mon it's up against matters, since you need to know if a coverage move (or if it outright has the type advantage to Drampa) will push Drampa too low to heal up from or kill.

Regular Draco can kill most average defense mons (think Mega Manectric in terms of bulk), but I CM up when I can to sweep if possible. If something physically threatening to Drampa would come out, I just switch.

Draco, Flamethrower, CM, Roost with Leftovers

My team was a timid Nihilego (252 Sp a 252 spe) with focus sash setting up stealth rocks and toxic spikes with the occasional beast boost sweeps but mostly suicide, then a modest Porygon-Z (252 sp a 252 spe) with normalium z boasting thunderbolt, ice beam, HP ground, and NZ boosted conversion (godlike) that usually did everything for me
For my last mon I have Tapu Fini using it's double edged sword of misty terrain for when I need a wall, don't remember it's stats but modest with 252 sp. a and bulky stats with leftovers. Disregards the hazards but worth it for tanking

I've never had a problem with running hyper offensive in the Battle Tree.

Kartana, MegaMence, and Greninja got me through singles.

A-Ninetales, Porygon-Z, Megamence, and Scarfchomp got me through doubles.

Status doesn't seem really prevalent. I really only see confusion get thrown around, and that got nerfed anyway.

>>
>>30718295
I like to deal with status because of consistency. Sure Hyper offensive can do stuff real quick but a simple lum berry can go a long way as I prefer consistency. Twave hax, confusion on a swords dancer, swagger all are scary things that can really screw up a run and the ai can give choice scarf / quick claw just to status. It also nets free boosts as I usually give it to a set up sweeper and that's usually enough to sweep most teams.

Other options to deal with status would be poison heal but gliscor isn't available sadly. Otherwise gliscor + toxapex stall would be insanely consistent.

Honestly I haven't run pure choice offense with no setup but the current mons with their huge polarizing stats makes it seem viable for long runs this gen.

Mimikyu gets quick wins and should always run Adamant @Life Orb with Swords Dance/Play Rough/Shadow Sneak/Shadow Claw. Ditch Leech Life at all costs.

It gets increasingly difficult to set up SD, and Play Rough with 90% accuracy can be a gamble, so the reliability of Shadow Claw is needed, with Shadow Sneak providing good cleanup on faster mons.

People complain about Megas in the tree, and one LO boosted Shadow Claw tends to put a huge dent in just one turn or outright KO things like Charizard and Metagross.

Current Super Singles team: Mimikyu, Toxapex, M.Kangaskhan (used to be Bewear, ended streak at 48. I like running only new Pokemon in battle trees, but now I'm over it)

I rarely have to bring out Toxapex, but when I do the toxic stall gets the job done. Toxapex's set also easily beats other walls (outside of obscure chesto resto boost sets with Earthquake...thanks Swampert). Kangaskhan's Fake Out on a poisoned enemy is way better than I thought it would be.

I enjoyed Bewear for his random physical bulk vs contact moves and his Z fighting move, but his speed + lack of priority became a prob.

I would recommend this team for sure, especially if you don't want to use Ultra Beasts. Minimal need to first-turn switch, Mimikyu is a better suicide lead than actual suicide leads, stall, and superb cleanup.

Finally found a use for this thing, clanging scales is a 100acc 110bp split attack. Very useful in multi battles where you have to team up with a retarded AI because you can reliably 2HKO almost any lead combination with it, then usually survive to get a third one off and soften up the second pokes of your opponents regardless of what your retarded AI buddy does to you.

Can someone help recommend a mon for my last spot?

Tapu Koko @ Terrain Extender

Celesteela @ Leftovers
Adamant 84HP/252Atk/172Spe

Tapu Koko and Celesteela are a match made in heaven that for 90% of the matches I can get by with just one or the other, but when they don't work out my third Pokemon has a tendency to fail me.
