It didn't take the good points of Emerald and incorporate them. That's literally it. The additions that were made, both cosmetic and gameplay wise were generally pretty good, it just fell flat because the obvious comparison was to Emerald and it felt lacking. I'm not even bothered about the battle frontier personally, but even the improved enemy teams and rematches being gone really sucked.
It was a still a good game, but it could have been great.

Episode Delta.
It redesigned shit for no reason.
What I find funny with vp is how it seems like the main game could be utter garbage but if the post-game is good they will praise the game. It's as if post-game was the only factor to determine a game's quality.
>>30698169
Yeah, I noticed that too. Case in point: Emerald, BW2
>>30697835
Pokemon variety was fucking awful in Trainers. Fucking hell not everyone in Team Aqua had to use fucking Sharpedo.
The executives should have used Crawdaunt or Tentacruel. Anything else.
Emerald gym team where all better aswell
Gen 3 was really bad to begin with. Such a let down as a kid. Was really boring. At least this game let me get nearly everything and caught me up
>>30698017
Battle Frontier was shit, and everyone is too butthurt to admit it.
Its too bad it had really sexy waifus and better character designs than sun and moon which are pretty bland but it still was shitty gen 3.

Not getting Battle Frontier was bad enough, but this monument felt like a slap in the face.
>>30698538
Yes, they were terrible.
Reminder that Gen 3 literally killed Pokemon.
>>30698538
Yes they were. Or at least RS were. Emerald completely redeemed them
Because it followed up HG/SS which, despite the shit I give it, had a lot of heart and soul put into it to make it not only faithful, but also have far more content than before. OR/AS kinda just feels like it only takes away from the original experience. Here's a few of my problems
>Mauville replaced with a fucking mall just so you could obtain the items for later pokemon, rather than simply making a new area to obtain them or sprinkle NPCs that give you them throughout the land.
>Nothing replaced the game corner like the shitty voltorb flip minigame did the G/S game corner
>no GBA sounds so the good remixes in OR/AS were sometimes ruined by having the music fluctuate between new and old music.
>some of the remixes were pretty weak, no GBA sounds to relive my shitty nostalgia
>HG/SS created a safari zone and filled it with all sorts of interesting mechanics. OR/AS fucking removed the safari zone and just turned it into a side route
>>30697835
Hoenn went wrong 13 years ago. Began the trend of removing features, of omitting features to add again on the third version, the "save the world" plot, the retarded powercreep.
Add Ohmori to that pool of shit and you get the wrost games in the series.
>>30698941
>reminder that gen 3 literally killed pokemon
>reminder that gen 4 literally killed pokemon
>reminder that gen 5 literally killed pokemon
the gen that you didn't like isnt the one that killed pokemon. its not dead yet.
>>30699211
I think he means that it was the first gen where it wasn't a fad, though I don't think that's the fault of the game even though I also hate Gen 3. It probably would've happened no matter what.
mostly since every pokemon game shares the same mechanic for almost 20 years.
-beat the gyms
-beat the evil team
-beat the elite 4/champion
-catch the rest of pkmn.
this is the main game and we find no problem with that. but after this we need another incentive to keep playing like missions were you learn more about the pkmn mythology idk another story mode
>>30699420
It definitely isn't the fault of the games. The GBA era got a remake of R/B and that didn't make it any more popular.
Kids around then were preoccupied with other shit. Pokemon was on the backburner.
I never played emerald and i only played ruby briefly to get the regis and transfer them to sinnoh
Im not a big fan of gen 3 because it was impossible to transfer my gen 2 pokemon, so in a way i kind of skipped gen 3 until i got back to pokemon in gen 4
Im done with the main story in sun and now im waiting for polebank
Is oras at least fun enough to keep me entretained for a few weeks, i just kinda want it to get the champ and contest ribbons for pic related my oldest pokebro alive the infernape i got in diamond
I prefer ORAS over over S/M.
>>30698017

>>30698017

>>30697835
it ignored everything that Emerald added and they took out customization because ???
the boxy gba layout and washed out colors didn't do anything to make the region feel as vibrant and lively as it should've
copy and pasting the maison. Shit, at least model the actual battle tower, you lazy GF fucks.
A lot.
>>30702058
>The Delta episode was spoiled
This is a retarded complaint as it's no fault of the game and only nerds constantly paying attention to news before release would even know. I agree with the rest though.
>>30697900
>>30697954
>>30698922
This sign was literally put in the game to show you that the events of ORAS take place BEFORE Emerald. Just like Steven talking about giving up his Champion position. Just like Steven saying the Match Call function is currently being developed. It´s just a way to reference Emerald, without turning ORAS in an Emerald remake.
I would argue that the empty lots in SM are worse, and yet no one is getting mad over that.
>>30698057

>>30704398
>Pyramid, Factory, and Pike are the Maison with a gimmick
Are there people who unironically believe this
>>30702818
First, what possible reason is there to not turn ORAS into an emerald remake? Why would you deliberately choose to omit existing features that would make your game better? And then reference that you did it knowingly? It's not like we're talking about ORAS not slapping gen 4 and 5 features into Hoenn. It's fucking Emerald, the improved version that already existed. If it was just their creators intent to specifically remake Ruby and Sapphire and ignore Emerald, then their intent was a waste of fucking time.
Second, people are complaining about the empty lots in Sun and Moon, on top of all the other shit that seems unfinished, but the lots in SM never WERE anything BEFORE. The lack of a new thing is not nearly as bad as failing to do something you already did.
>>30704451
what was different about them, then?
>>30698538
>gen 3 broke the kanto trend
>FRLG
>>30697940
But it was a remake of ruby and sapphire, not emerald :^)They better not do this shit with the eventual Sinnoh remakes
>>30698538
What the fuck is the kanto trend? The first game being set in a region, then the second game letting you go to that region? What detrimental game element here was broken? Let alone a trend after two games.
>We don't want to add customization because its part of the flavor of Kalos
>lol lets throw in the Battle Maison
>>30704476
Pyramid was essentially a survival mode rather than following the same rinse repeat battles
Factory allowed you to change your team in between fights and placed emphasis on creating a well balanced team with limited options
Pike is a survival mode but rather on exploration it gives you small hints on which rooms to go to/avoid and forces you into favorable or unfavorable situations rather than fair ground
>>30704764
ah, fair enough.
see- i just thought that each of the different buildings were basically just the five or whatever different types of battles that the maison offered.
TIL
>>30698538
How could they have broken the Kanto trend since RSE is actually a poorly copy of gen I?
Gen III is the gen that started the trend: let's use the gen I formula again and again.
>>30704848
Elaborate
>>30705007
You can see that many Gen III mons are counterparts of Kanto pokemon, it's iterally Brock in the first gym and basically the same elite four.
And Gens III-VI are basically the same game: one region, new evil team, just replace older pokemon with new ones, 8 gyms, elite four.
Pretty much gen I used again and again. It's the same game.
>>30705166
It's kind of funny that gen 2, which is filled with Kanto pokemon, lets you go to Kanto, and has the same villain team as in Kanto, felt the least like a retread by virtue of taking these repeated elements and sequelizing them.

>>30701386
Damn man, are you me
I got emotional looking at your Infernape, reminds me of the Empoleon I had when I played Pearl for the first time 8 years ago; I traded Aquarius to some guy on a whim and never saw him again;_;
I never liked Gen III besides FRLG, I only managed to complete Emerald last year after about a decade of deliberating on doing so.
I've been doing an ORAS nuzlocke and it's been okay so far however, so I guess it makes for a nice time-pass for this Bankless period
ORAS is fantastic. Added two of the best features ever (DexNav and Soaring) and they are probably going to be ORAS exclusive features, making ORAS even more special.
Also, best selling remake of all time.
So yeah, all is fine with ORAS, other than /vp/ being tasteless.
>>30707964
I sure am going to miss a useful bottom screen...
Also, am I the only one who finds the sm postgame really short compared to oras? The secret base shenanigans (as well as getting all items for them), catching legendaries, visiting all mirage spots, battle tests, inverse battles and super contests sure felt like more content than an even shorter than last time looker quest, a single legendary, another legendary which is tedious as fuck to get unless you're using guides because day/night shenanigans, a horribly laggy battle royale, and a dumbed down battle maison.
I do love the touches with how much the island changes after beating it's kahuna, but that wears out real quick.
"defending your title" sure doesn't feel like it, and I sure do hope the empty lots all over alola are filled with an update/events.
>>30703391
>came with an accessory
It also came with a higher price
>>30708551
Apparently anon deleted his post. Proper quote: >>30708253
The supposed issues of ORAS:
>no Battle Frontier
They don't make new battle facilities for remakes. They just copy past the one from the previous game. Just like HGSS copied the Platinum BF
>No Trainer Customization
It is a feature that doesn't suit remakes at all, and I am glad it wasn't in ORAS. I hope DP and BW remakes don't have Trainer Customization either.
>No Game Corner replacement like Voltorb Flip
They only bothered to make Voltorb Flip because HGSS was part of a Generation with the Game Corner (Gen IV). The Game Corner hasn't returned after BW1 made TMs reusable, so it makes sense they didn't bring it back for ORAS. Besides, the GV owner gives you the 3 starter dolls in ORAS, so it makes the Casino even more redundant
>No Berry Blender mini game
Tte lack of that boring mini game qas made up for by adding 3 other mini games not present in RSE (Amie mini games)
> no Gym Leader rematches in ORAS, unlike Emerald
This would be the only valid complaint, but ORAS has tge Battle Resort Tyoe Specualists instead, which serve a similar purpose, and are all level 60 (a higher level than most Gym Leader Rematches) and we can turn our Secret Bases in Gyms, which more than makes up for lack of GLR
>no proper Safari Zone
The DexNav is basically like the. Safari Zones, but around the whole region of Hoenn.
>the game is too easy
Pokemon has always been easy. Nobodt should play the games for the difficulty.
Basically, all are nitpicks.
>>30704736
>includes customization in the next game anyway
Man sometimes their excuses are fucking retarded
>worst remake of objectively the worst zone with objectively the ugliest box legendaries and mons in general
>>30705858
I think you got that backwards, anon-kun...
>>30708551
Absolutely agreed. ORAS has a lot of content, whether /vp/ recognizes it or not...
>>30708956
Too easy is not a nitpick because there are times where games are just so easy that they're pretty much boring to playthrough, which is was ORAS is in most cases.
there's literally no reason to do the two versions meme for a remake
just give us fucking yellow, crystal, emerald, platinum
holy fuck
>>30710095
even without the exp share it's still ridiculously easy. You need to do a ludicrous amount of self restrictions for ORAS for it to even seem remotely challenging at times.
And it's still a complaint. No one is saying that the previous mainseries games were ever hard, just that they were more challenging than ORAS, outside of Red and Blue.
>>30702818
But it really has no post game. No nothing.
They were rushed to come out in gen VI. GF should've waited for gen VII, the gen VI graphics are pure shit.
I JUST WANTED BATTLE FACTORY BACK
>>30698169
Post game is the reason the Megaman Battle Network games are so loved.
>>30710145
ORAS has a HUGE amount of content available for after you finish the main game.
But most of that content is mada available for the player before the postgame, so you guys purposely OMIT ITS EXISTENCE.
It´s that simple. It´s that funny. It´s /vp/´s dumb mentality.
>>30710470
>But most of that content is mada available for the player before the postgame
Then it's not postgame content, you mouthbreathing mongoloid. Or are you unironically going to tell me that contests are postgame content?
>>30698169
Because up until Sun and Moon the main game has been the same rote predictable garbage, the post-game is where the real replay-value is
Sun and Moon have made strides in making the main game actually enjoyable but matching explorable Kanto, the Sevii Islands and the Battle Frontier is a feat worth repeating.
>>30708983
There are actual people that want it to get another remake after Sun and Moon. How do you feel about that?
>>30708983
Hey hgss was pretty good, as far as remakes go
>>30710630
Contests are as "postgame content" as the PWT is, you dumb fuck.
Or, to put it more simple, postgame content is a meme that doesn´t matter, what ,atter is the TOTAL AMOUNT OF CONTENT of a game. Whether said content is made available before or after the main story has ended, does not matter.
The Battle Tower in RSE is postgame content.
The Battle Maison in XYORAS is also postgame content.
The Battle Subway and PWT are both NOT postgame content, since they are made available during the main game.
Are you seriously that clueless to tell me there is a difference between the Battle Tower/Maison, and the Battle Subway, because the former are locked until after the story ends, and the latter isn´t? They are the same freaking thing either way.
What matters is how much content do you have once the story is finished. And yes, Contests are still available, just like the PWT is.
>>30710703
>explorable Kanto
People still think that is post-game?
>Sevii Islands
