Hey this is pretty nice

Praise the WOPH
>>
>overabundance
That's just a whole new problem.

Lapras can't catch a break.
>>
>>30684796
Yeah, but that's one that environmental pressures will tend to take care of. Predator populations will rise, causing Lapras populations to fall, then the two will slowly reach an equilibrium.

>>30684737
>Corsola numbers dwindling because invasive Mareanie population
>Muk and Grimer dying off because of lack of polution

In IRC news, Giraffes are dying off

Shame about corsola but fuck the other 3 and they don't belong anywhere near civilization anyways

Tell me one Pokemon game where lapras had greater than a 5% encounter rate
>>

>>
>>30684991
Lapras had a 100% encounter rate in GS on fridays
>>
>>30684871
unless lapras is the apex predator, in which case it will decimate many other populations, continue to spiral out of control, and then they will die off of starvation
>>
>>30684796
Which pokemon can reasonably pray on a fully grown adult lapras? We don't have a good amount of large carnivorous water pokemon. Gyarados, Sharpedo, Feraligator and Tentacruel seem the most capable of bringing a Lapras down and having the means to actually eat it.

>>30684966

If Lapras are intelligent enough to understand human speach, Why aren't they intelligent enough to organise and fight back against poachers?

heh, it might be weird but have any of you ever thought it might be nice to be in a romantic relationship with lapras? heh, yeah, me either

Lapras seems like a manatee: slow moving herbivore that doesn't tend to cause problems. Manatee are preyed on by sharks and occasionally gators/crocodiles.

Or you could imagine they're more like sea turtles which have similar predators. Surprisingly many sea turtles don't make it to adulthood as they get picked off by crabs, fish and other smaller predators.

Nature will handle itself. Yep.

....I don't think being given a lapras counts as part of the encounter rate.
>>
>>30684796
On the bright side, I can start selling my frozen Lapras tenders without people getting all upset about endangered species.
>>
>>30684737
Pokemon breeding is dictated by the female, so there could easily be a lot of Lapras breeding.
>>
It's probably a silly meta joke about how Lapras seems to become less elusive with every generation.
>gen 1 only has one that you get as a gift
>gen 2 has one a week in a secluded location
>gen 4 has them at a in one room at the bottom of a cave
>gen 5 has them rarely appear in rippling water in one river
>gen 6 has them appear at 1% in the open while surfing
>gen 7 has them as a 5% surfing encounter

Correct, you could catch one on the same route as the guy who handed you the Lapras, however it was just a 1% encounter rate. There was also friend safari but that's a different beast.
>>
>>30685091
Dhelmise kills Wailord for seemingly no reason. Maybe it keeps Alolan marine population in check.
>>
>>30687166
Couldn't you catch them in FRLG on 4 island's cave aswell, or am I mistaking it for something like Dewgong?

>Sharpedo: It has a sad history. In the past, its dorsal fin was a treasured foodstuff, so this Pokémon became a victim of overfishing.
Apparently the same happened to sharpedo. Explains why Archie went full retard for his ocean pals.

you could

Alola Grimers safely eat trash. A fucking poison dark type is the secret key to reducing our carbon footprint.
>>
>>30687425

Yeah. They had something like a 1% encounter rate though.
>>
>>30687526
Alolan grimers eat trubbish as well.
>Trubbish: Unsanitary places are what they like best. They can be spotted in Alola, often with Grimer in hot pursuit.
>Garbador: For a time, their numbers increased explosively in Alola. Since the arrival of Grimer, their population has decreased dramatically.

Giraffes are God-tier animals you filthy fucking lion.
>>
>>30684871
That's not always how this works.

For example, there's an overabdunance of deer in Germany. There are no wolves anymore to take care of the problem. Thus, I cry.

when an animal becomes too plentiful, there are always enough predators to cut their numbers back down. Those predators just happen to be us. Good news: there's no more poaching of Lapras. Bad news: because it's been made legal to hunt Lapras
