Just caught my first grimer this morning & first tengela yesterday.

I'm already preparing for you not to believe a word I say, but cap this anyway because I'm being truthful.

Gen 2 will be announced Monday, but not implemented until Wednesday night/Thursday morning when the nest migration happens. No togepi egg, no selecting a new starter. I do not know which pokemon will be regional exclusives. I do not know how egg distribution will be sorted. Smeargle, unown, and the legendaries will not appear just yet. Split evolutions will be random just like the previous eevee ones. No tricks, stones, or walking needed.

The holiday (not Christmas because god forbid anyone gets offended) event will begin the 21st/22nd and last until the 31st/1st.

Holiday event is double candies on all captures and transfers, holiday clothing for certain pokemon (3 starters, pikachu, eevee, snorlax, jigglypuff, and clefairy), and increased spawn rates. The holiday clothing is hats and scarfs. Nothing to do with Santa. They can be toggled on/off. Wild pokemon don't have them on, but you can toggle it on when captured. These things will still be useable after the event. Later events will add more.

Shiny pokemon will be turned on Dec. 28th/29th. They are very rare and random and do not determine IVs. None of your previous captures will be shiny. It's completely cosmetic and dumb.

McDonald's will become a corporate sponsor in January in the US. This will come with Kids meal toys or some shit. Not sure on the complete details.

Trainer customization options are coming as well, but I don't know which event will have it. My best guess is the gen 2 date. New hats, hair, backpacks, etc. Some can be bought, some can be unlocked via medals. Pretty cool.

Baby pokemon will show as held in the trainers arms when they are your buddy. they evolve via candy. No idea how they will be sorted in eggs.

Geodude NEVER spawns around here. I already walked one 81 km and got ancient power, but I'm powering it up anyway to show off at local gyms. Charge attacks like ancient power and water pulse are the most annoying to dodge anyway, at least that's what I tell myself.

I'll probably end up evolving another one now that golem is actually good, hopefully I don't get AP again. It's satisfying to get candy every 1 km too.

Some "tourist" trainers use regular gen1 mons against you but they are not catchable in the rest of the game, there is a QR scan thing though. If you scan 10 pokedex pokemon codes (every pokemon has a qr code for it, it shows in the dex) a pokemon from other region appears on the island. For example I got the 3 gen2 starters, Litwick, Scolipede and Eelektross (these last three are gen4 or 5)
