Honestly Muk is better.

In VGC I actually prefer Muk and Raichu, I think the gen 7 Pikaclone can actually pull its weight as an UB stopper just like a Marowak does.

Marowak is good because it works well in most all of the Terrains, hard counters two of the Tapus, and checks pretty much all of the UBs besides Buzzwole. Nothing else in the game really does all of those things at once the way Marowak does.

Not saying that it's a must have in a team or that other Pokémon can't accomplish it's role, but Marowak definitely compacts all of those roles to point that it's worth considering for a lot of teams no matter what.
