Only use Icy Rock if you really want that hail to keep going for Slush Rushers. Otherwise go with Light Clay.

Everyone has said it, but don't run blizzard. It's really tempting as ninetales' strongest move, but it's a trap. With only 80-something special attack, it doesn't hit hard enough to outweigh the coverage benefits of freeze dry

Replace Icy Rock with Light Clay

Chances are Ninetails won't live for more than 3 to 4 turns.

It's better to use the light clay to at least provide whoever is switching in some defenses

I also prefer encore to nasty plot for this reason. Ninetales isn't really worth keeping in or setting up, especially to attack +2 on turn 3, not kill anything and then die
