Gens 1-5 I did, but since 6 and 7 have been handing me a lot of my favorites pretty early on and without having to get a nat. dex I've just been using those.

I played without the EXP Share and it actually fucked me over. I was horrendously underleveled, so it made Vast Poni Canyon and the Lusamine rematch all the more difficult. It was an interesting challenge, though. At that point I was on a fast track to the end so I went full speedrun strat and had Solgaleo carry me for the final seven fights (Rivals, E4, final boss) and just X Stat boosted the fuck out of it. My justification, I guess, is having Nebby proudly carry me through to the end. It definitely was a fighter.

Admittedly I was in such a hurry to get to the end of the game, especially considering that people would post spoilers here without much care, so I didn't get to really pepper my team with Alolan Pokemon. I would've tried out Pokemon like Wishiwashi or Alolan Marowak, and I even planned on getting Kommo-o onto my team at one point. But the newer Pokemon are absurdly hard to find. I don't trust the encounter rate tables I've seen. It's like 1% Alolan Pokemon and 99% Kanto Pokemon. On top of that, some of these Pokemon are very late. Jangmo-o would be found right at the very end since I think you can't get Totem Pokemon (and their family line) 'til you beat them. Vikavolt evolves at Vast Poni Canyon, super late. Crabominable evolves at Mt. Lanakila, right at the very end. The super late evolutions were kind of a turn off. So I went with Pokemon that I knew were good and reliable, even if they were older. I still had a lot of fun, even if I blitzed through it. I do wish I took my time a bit more. But... who knows? Maybe in a possible third version or sequel I will.

It's been a fun team for the most part. Early game kinda sucked because a lot of them have shit level-up movepools... Sandshrew and Wingull carried the team for quite a while.

He's not overleveled. Underleveled if anything thanks to parts of his team. He has a lot of the same weaknesses. The teams are generally strong pokemon who have diverse typings with a degree of coverage moves even if it's not great. He likely has bad move sets and wont setup to compensate either.

I was a bit disappointed because outside of Wishiwash and Zygarde, I didn't really want to use any of these guys, but since the distribution is Johto 2: Electric Boogaloo, I didn't have much of a choice.

All you guys having played through S/M, what's the verdict on it compared to ORAS? I've been on the fence on getting it ever since it was confirmed no dexnav so I could get specific abilities/natures/iv's/shiny on rares without wanting to kill myself doing it along with all the other stuff that mysteriously wasn't carried over.

Alola is the "Take it Easy" region, meaning everything has been slowed down from the local pokemons' peed stats to the breeding and grinding methods. Story progression sets visible flags for you to travel from cutscene to cutscene hoping that you'll fall for the reverse psychology to slowly explore everywhere except where the flag says to go. Basically, if you're looking to play something fast-paced with stronk new pokemon and very little hand-holding, then feel free to skip this region.

It was so frustrating to beat with this team. I attempted to do this on my first try as in resetting as soon i blacked out and not going back to the center.
Hala/Olivia.Kahili took me 3 tries each to beat. Acerold took 2. Only had 3 Max Revives left by the time i reached Kukui. and then Kukui took like 15 tries. Had to break my no TMs rule to beat Kukui.

By the end of it Golisopod was Level 53 and everyone else was Level 44-50.

My sun team. Yeah, I traded for a petilil off the GTS as soon as I could, Lilligant is one of my two favorites, and it had been awhile since I had used one. Sableye is my other favorite, didn't even know he was in the game until he showed up to help take down an annoying carbink. I couldn't ignore that kind of loyalty, even if I had just used one in AS, so he got on the team too. Kept myself to Alolan mons for everything else though. The minior is light blue.

They're all chinese, first one is a water related goddess. Lanbao means blue gem(sapphire). Gouyin means seduction, Hulijing is a fox spirit, similar to the kitsune for japanese. fulong means luck dragon, because Falkor is the luckdragon in the neverending story, and Junzhu means a lord/monarch of an area (theres a different word same sound different tone for princess if it was a female snivy)

Don't know how popular the pokemon on my team are, but personally this has been my favorite team. I've always had one moment were one of my pokemon pulled the whole team through a challenge. By the time I got to the third island i knew more pokemon would be much more viable but I didn't want to just box them.

My Moon team I feel so split on. I love Alolan Raichu and Lapras surprised me a lot in how bulky it is, but Lurantis and Crabominable feel so weak. Alolan Marowak is good, but he's also kind of fragile, and this team just has a bunch of shitty weaknesses anyways.

My Sun team, on the other hand, I was really happy with. Lots of fun pokemon and some stuff I never used before (Like Garchomp) and some great coverage. Bit underlevelled at times, especially Dhelmise, but they all clutched it out in the end. Thank god for the new move relearner mechanics, getting Dhelmise's actual good moves before level 60 or whatever is great.

Was underleveled by 3-4 levels when fighting the champ.
Krookodile is shiny on top of being the absolute MVP, it hung on at 1 hp 4 times during the chwmpion fight, while recycling its intimidate with revive's was the only reason I won.
Mismagius was by far the Yamcha, always getting critted on when setting up calm mind. After E4 it tanked a shadow ball from an Espeon and killed it in response, so all is forgiven.
Ribombee was delicate but pulled its weight and then some when it mattered, God bless quiver dance.
Persian jobbed for the most part since the beggining of the last island, but it had incredible luck with the technician bite flinches, which in addition to fake out, taunt and HP ground made him somewhat worth it.
Tentacruel I got solely as a late game counter to faeries and was happy to be surprised at how based it can be. I still don't get why that fucker can learn Dazzling Gleam, which i tought it for Ice Beam and reversed whenever needed.
Whimsicott, my eternal shoulderbro, performing decently as always, with prankstet light screen, moon blast, giga drain and psychic being a tried and true in game set.

Tsareena became the definite Ace. She really supported the team with Trop Kick and Low Sweep to soften the opponents offenses before other stuff hopped in to clean up.

I'm entering the league now. Love my team, everyone had their chance to shine. Even Togedemaru who ate Lusamine for lunch after Bewear was down. Drifblim had useful Immunities, and don't even get me started in Araquanids Liquidation. Thanks too to Blissey, never used one and really surprised me tanking fucking everything. Lycanroc and Lumantis were the least used, but are definitely big bros. Their Z-Moves tend to clean whatever receives it.

This game was great and I do hope to win the league in the first try. Let's see.

I've done a lot of MonoSteel runs (enough to have beaten a game with every non-Legendary Pokémon, and this one was... alright as a team. It was all pretty even, and could lose against Pokémon of the same level. Togedemaru was actually rather good for most of the game but really fell off at the end, and Sandslash was only good when he evolved but was then really good as long as he avoided the double weakness.

Wanted to go all Gen VII but I found a shiny Zubat near the start of the game so I was really inclined to use him.
Mimikyu was the hero of the endgame thanks to being able to set up swords dance and then spam shadow claw until the end of time.
Wishiwashi was super useful during the start-mid parts of the game too.
Decidueye was actually the least useful, nigga was too slow to do anything.

It's supposed to be canon to use it, after all you're forced to catch the all powerful fucking thing. Afterwards there's an extra cutscene between Solgaleo/Lunala and Tapu Koko ONLY if you take Solgaleo into the league with you. I also believe it's pretty much 100% canon to always clear with your fully evolved starter.

If you don't actually take the box legendary with you into the league, then your first clear is technically canonically flawed. Because "canonically" and realistically you'd have to be pretty fucking autistic to not use it for story-wise reasons or optimization (strength) reason.

(I'm not saying you HAVE to or even 100% should, but fuck off with your stupid fucking no-legendaries allowed bullshit. Seriously though, what the fuck is with people having so many problems with legendaries and mythicals?)
