I don't work on the actual coding part of the game, but from what I heard it wasn't like they could just slam the game into it and be done. Mega Vespiquen in the DP remake was definitely enough to get me hyped for Sinnoh. I wasn't the biggest fan of gen 4 per se, but it had some good stuff. Vespiquen is one of those Pokemon that I always loved and wished was a lot better. Hell, I'm happy that new megas will return at all.

The new alola forms and new pokemon in lunar/solar also sound good. Most of the alolan forms in SM were fantastic, and SM had a strong cast of new pokemon imo.

Now, a question: if lunar/solar take place in alola 5 years later, and there are no new islands to explore, how will Melemele, Akala, Ulaula and Poni be spiced up in order to keep it interesting?

Stars starts off in the non-mega evolution/Z-move berensteinverse and halfway through the game your train ends up falling through an ultra worm hole. You get back by catching Necrozma who is just as lost and confused in the alternate universe as you. The post game is you having to deal with all the UBs including two new UBs. One of them is a roaming beast known as "UB: Lucre" which is a dark/fairy that looks -vaguely- like a shadowy human hand with coin 'eyes' on the index as well as the ring finger. Missing middle finger. Signature move is "Greed Smile" (working name) that consumes the user's hold item and deals physical fairy type damage based on the 'value' of the hold item and then steals the opponent's item.
