You don't need it to be your SID. You could just enter any name (like May) and leave it as that.

You can get your SID by trading a Pokemon of yours to someone with CFW. That person can then tell you.

You can download jksm and then dumb/inject your savegame and edit it with pkhex.

You can also install pksm which is a bit like pkhex on the 3ds with inbuild pokebank (misses a few features though)

You can also update your luma through the luma updater and use the patched code.bin together with a luma feature to be able to scan the qr codes in this thread to directly inject them into your game (using the island scan qr scanner)

if you are on a n3ds you can also install ntr and do injection over wifi while online (my favorite)

There's primary and secondary entrypoints. Secondary means you need to have access to homebrew already (through a primary entrypoint) to set it up.

freeshop just has a much nicer ui, the rest is more or less the same. Not sure how ciangle is now, but back then it was just a black screen with white text and shitty search function where you weren't really sure if you dl the correct game, freeshop solves those issues

you can remove the oot cart once you are in the homebrew launcher.

You can also download steel divers:sub wars for free from the eshop and install a entrypoint into it, so you can start the homebrewlauncher from your homemenu and don't need oot anymore.

If you want to use jksm with pokemon SM you need to put https://github.com/ihaveamac/9.6-dbgen-xmls on your sd card

You need to be in the homebrew launcher already to install steelhax (secondary entrypoint). There's a specific installer in it then.

If you don't have access to homebrew yet (on your current or another console), then your only options are oot3d+powersaves,cubic ninja or freakyforms deluxe

Steelhax can't be installed on 11.2, only on earlier firmwares it can be installed and then used on 11.2 by updating afterwards.

In most instances, you want a full 31 in all stats. Some exceptions include a 0 IV in speed, when you want your Pokemon to be as slow as possible for Trick Room, Gyro Ball, etc. or if you have a special attacker with an attack IV of 0 to reduce Foul Play and confusion damage.

You also might need to play around with the numbers if you want specific Hidden Power types, but regardless, you'd still usually want the IVs to be a high as possible.
