Raise affection to rank two by petting them and giving them beans, take them to the highest level pokemon you can find, preferably a trainer, switch them out, win the battle, and they get thousands of EXP.

Feeding them a rainbow bean is the easiest way to get the needed affection.

Also for mons that evolve at a fixed level, hold off on evolving them as much as possible, mons level up faster if they can evolve but haven't.
