Honestly, the speeds for the animals doesn't even matter that much. The island is small enough in a lot of areas that stoutland and tauros cover a lot of land even if you aren't doing tauros's sanic mode. The only downside is eggs, and I just auto-hatch eggs using pokepelago and play something else anyway.

If it's any consolation, triple/rotation battles were originally in the game. Evidence can be found during that one Aether Foundation fight against three grunts.

Two of the grunts have Pokemon weak to Ground moves, and the third guy has a Porygon2 with Magnet Rise. Their dialogue suggested it was meant to be a triple battle, but because the the 3DS was being pushed to its max already, they had to recode it into a single battle for each.

Bounsweet only shows up on the western side of Lush Forest, but it does have a 40% appearance rate there, so it's not hard to find even by accident. Because getting excited to see what new Pokemon you can find on each route isn't how it was done back in Gen I. You have to make the player want to do everything in their power to avoid any wild Pokemon if you really want to pander to nostalgia.

Seriously, I'm not as down on these games as a lot of people seem to be, but if Gen VI did anything right, it was the distribution and variety of wild Pokemon in each area, and seeing them go back to Johto-tier distribution is a huge disappointment.

Z moves are better than gems were, aside from Acrobatics and Unburden combos.
