Why does the champion of Sinnoh spend more time in other regions?

The implication is that she's well traveled and a very worldly, powerful trainer.

Like Red in the first episode of Pokemon Generations, she's traveled the world and seen all sorts and grown strong because of it

Instead of Dawn travelling to other regions, it's Cynthia. So she left everything to her in order to continue her "research on myths" which may or may not include taking a vacation in Unova, going to Alola and Johto
