In the English version, Lillie's motivation for being a trainer is the same regardless of gender.
In Japanese it changes slightly.

Lillie tells a female MC that she wants to become a strong trainer like her.
Lillie tells a male MC that she wants to become a trainer so they can travel together.

One implies that Chicken-chan inspired her to want to be a stronger young woman, just like Chicken.
The other implies that she wants to become a trainer so that she and Sun can travel the world together on more equal footing and she won't keep holding him back.

2. The English translation is a liberal translation* as opposed to a literal translation of the original text.
3. Both versions display different text depending on your MC choice.
