Articuno. It literally traverses mountaintops to save people and pokemon from dying in blizzards. It's design is beautiful and graceful, perfect for a flying ice type. Plus it's cry is pretty. Ever since one saved ash I loved it.

Pokemon is a team effort competitive wise. It's easy to do in game by yourself with potions and one or two Pokemon.

Moltres is a rubber chicken on fire and Zapos looks like someone just took those "action bubbles" in comics and stuck them together.
