So in that extremely rare, fringe situation, it would detract absolutely nothing from the experience. I'm fairly sure the reason we don't have true scale on 3DS is simply the resolution. Anything remotely big would require distant cameras which would make anything small in the same shot basically indistinguishable.

Added to that, the generated contour line that they have around the models is meant to resemble sprite art (likely also as a stylistic compromise due to the shit resolution), instead of actual smooth, photoshop-esque lines like the official artwork, so even in less extreme situations like with say Grubbin to Solgaleo, what little you could see of it would likely just be black pixels.

No. That's not what I said. However, size differences do matter when they affect gameplay, yes.

Take a fighter for instance. If I wanted to add a supersized character like in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, I CAN do that, but I need take into consideration how that would affect gameplay. The size of the hit and hurtboxes matter directly to how it plays, so it takes extra effort to implement. To scale still matters, but it's not just as simple as "make character big, now ship game."

With Pokemon, there would be no consequence on STRICTLY the mechanics of the game, so they have no further consideration or adjustments to make on STRICTLY the mechanics of the game in order to scale them. The visuals are enjoyable, and have value being there, but that value is not at all tied in any way to the mechanics. Thus, the implementation would be easy, and be at no loss of time on the developers' part to make more accurate.
