The Ultra Beasts are ugly too. I get that they're not supposed to look like Pokemon but they still look just as bad as the genies.

Not to mention that Rayquaza is the master of the weather trio. Ultra Beasts are just generic monsters from another dimension. You can catch multiple of most Ultra Beasts in a single game, they should not be anywhere near as powerful as most legendary Pokemon. Not to mention that Mega-Fug is banned from both VGC and Ubers. I guarantee that Smogon will hesitate to ban Celesteela and they'll be on every VGC team.

They are half-assed though. The Ultra Beasts have pretty much no relevance to the plot aside from turning Lusamine into a "innocent" person who just got possessed. They could have easily not included Ultra Beasts in the game and just made Lusamine a manic collector/control freak and the game's story would probably end up being better (since Lusamine ends up actually having a more interesting character).
