That's not true, though. Since JP Crystal and the GS Ball, event items have been released that unlock short quests or areas that allow you to catch Mythical or Legendary Pokemon. I think the most recent one released was the Liberty Ticket for Victini in BW. Just off the top of my head, Darkrai, Shaymin, Deoxys, Mew (in Emerald) and Ho-Oh/Lugia (in FRLG and Emerald) also had distributions that worked like this.

This is some INTENSE backpedaling, dude. You clearly aren't doing this because you don't understand, you just NEED to be on top and to "win" this conversation.

The thing I was complaining about all the way back at the beginning of this travesty was the fact that new mythical pokemon are simply given to you, when before Gen 6 (only really one time in Gen 5, but still) you got to go out, see where the pokemon came from, and even learn some stuff about it. There's a big difference between, for example, having a Darkrai plop into your PC, and having to go on a side-quest to save some kid in a coma and learn about Darkrai.

What part of this confuses you? The thing that I like is learning about the mythical pokemon and seeing it in the wild, and the challenge of having to face, and then capture, said pokemon. It isn't as rewarding if it is simply given to you.


I cannot dissect this ANY further. If you're still confused, I'm sorry, but you'll have to look elsewhere for answers.

Because I want to catch it? That's like asking why someone would be upset if a Pokemon game came out and they just got handed 15-20 Pokemon every time they got to a new city instead of having to catch them in the route beforehand themselves. There is already a mechanic in place to make legendary Pokemon more difficult to catch than other Pokemon, and requiring an event ticket to reach them explains their rarity in-world.

Magearna is one of a kind in the context of the game's story, and mechanically, because the player can only obtain one. I can catch 50 eevees. I can put eevees in the nursery and have them shit out hundreds more eevees. I can let an eevee call its entire species in to help it in a fight against me. Even setting that aside, Eevee can be found in the wild on the second island. Magearna requires the player have completed the game and scanned a code from outside the game, so despite not being difficult to obtain, there is some barrier, making her literally rarer than Eevee.

Magearna is very clearly a rejected design from Gen 6 that they couldn't fit into either Kalos OR Alola and so was given a movie so that people could be aware of it's existence, want it, and then get the code for it. Cheap, but likely knowing GF.

Marshadow deserves in-game integration far more. It's actually interesting and filled with personality, compared to Diance 2.0.

Not exactly. If I recall correctly, Timid + 252 Speed EVs + a single Gear Shift puts it at about 500~ Speed, which is just above a lot of Scarf-mons that threaten it (Garchomp, primarily).

As said before, going Timid means you lock yourself in a Gear Shift set, somewhat. It's depressing because Magearna has a ton of viable sets, but quite a few of them run different natures. For example, Quiet + 0 Speed IVs can also run a Trick Room setter build, or Hasty nature can run Gear Shift with mixed offensive to break Special Walls (Physical Movepool is kinda dismal, though).

I think most just stick with Modest since it probably has the best "diversity" in terms of practical team placement/set-ups.
