I didn't grind or anything, it was just like that. Kept the EXP share on, battled most Trainers I encountered, used Refresh frequently. Make it to Exeggutor Island and just start grinding there I guess, all the Pokemon there are at least 40.

I played the game until the last island with EXP share off, at that point around I found trainers would out level my entire squad. I ended up turning it on just to catch up again because grinding without it is just masochism.

Up until the last island the levels were pretty easy to keep up with, if I had xp share on in early-mid game I would have easily out leveled everything while catching pokemon or clearing trainers to get items from the elite ones on each route. The Aether Foundation was around 5 levels above me but I didn't want to break the momentum of the story.

Only reason not to use XP share is to avoid over-leveling, otherwise it's really strong for grinding stuff up.

That said, those held items cost BP, so if you're looking for a battle tree team, unless you think you can take on Battle Royal enough to get 16 points 6 times, those aren't really available.

Without the items, it's 63 kills with pokerus. Which is cancer.

However, if you have an actual life to live, so feel like letting the game multitask for you while you're at work or wherever is still a form of fast, Pelago gets you full in a stat in 15:45 hours with bean power. Put it in before bed, wake up got to work, come home to trained mon. That's what I've been doing, frankly.

I've done or considered doing all of them in my days, and if that's what suits you, and gets you what you want out of the game, that's fine.

but if anon is saying " the game is currently too hard for me to really enjoy" playing with the same challenges that you are, then he probably shouldn't be playing using those particular challenges.

As for the whole "designers expect you to be this level" thing, it's basically "how hard did they intend for this fight to be" which they do by trying to predict how strong you will be compared to the particular obstacle.

If you're steamrolling bossfights, i.e. a fight designed to be on the difficult side, you're probably stronger than they expected. If you're nearly wiping to every wild shitmon you encounter, i.e. fights meant to be almost trivial, you're probably way below design expectations.

Doesn't mean you have to play it like they expect it to. And if you want the game to be harder or easier, one might intentionally not do so, which brings us back to the aforementioned challenges like you going into fights underleveled so as to feel more underdog, and require more technicality.

After one person has all 3 of their Pokemon knocked out, the game ends. If there's no tie for pokemon knocked out, and if the guy who knocked out the most pokemon still has some pokemon left, then the game goes to him. If there is a tie, then the person with the most Pokemon left will win. Very rarely, I've seen players who have knocked out only one mon win the game because they had all 3 of their mons left, as opposed to the other 3 who had 2 or 3 kills but just 1 of their mons left.

Basically, get a lot of kills but try to stay alive.

There really isn't one. I'd recommend bringing either bulky pokemon like Toxapex or super hard hitters like Xurkitree, but the AI can and will get randomly lucky. Also make sure your mons know Protect.

I had the opposite experience. The IA seems to get pretty aggressive against a trainer if he only has one pokemon left (also most of the time they'll try to attack the pokemon with less hp)
