Bug has Scizor, by itself an incredible Mon against so many types, golisopod, araquanid, silvally, ribombee, buffed masquerain, vikavolt, hell even scolipede is solid without speed boost due to its movepool. The reason for pre-bank is to promote diversity in mons used, a restricted meta can promote people to use and test stuff they would never otherwise use to make a team that is fun but uses the best that the type can offer at this moment.
It's just a fresh start before we go back into the norm and probably forget about more than half the gen 7 mons in use to later tournys.

How exactly does P2 "handle" Aegislash when it has Sacred Sword? Aegislash is slower so P2 will likely never hit it with the lower defenses.

Staraptor will get slowly murdered by Iron Head or Sacred Sword, or obliterated by Flash Cannon. It can't even hit it with anything but a weak-ass Heat Wave (if we were playing with Bank mons, even). King's Shield says "hi" to any desperate Brave Bird attempts.

aegislash is currently under discussion because while it wasn't really an issue for most teams to deal with in previous seasons, this pre-bank meta is way more restrictive and many types cannot counter most if any aegislash sets
ghost has a fairly solid selection of stuff like gengar, dhelmise, chandelure, froslass, mimikyu, palossand, and some others

a lot of types have fairly limited selections of viable mons to use, the real diversity this season is going to be in the loadouts. I'm enjoying the challenge before I go back to the bogstandard team I used in gen 6 with one or two alolamons thrown in.

I'm curious about people's thoughts on Porygon2.
Porygon2 is one of the most powerful pokemon in battle spot singles due to its extreme bulk, ability to cripple setup pokemon with thunder wave, and access to recover. Since pokebank is not yet out, many teams will especially struggle to deal with Porygon2 due to the lack of a knock off move tutor. The constraint upon teams placed by the alola dex means that many types lack the fighting coverage or knock off needed to easily deal with Porygon2.
However, Porygon2 can also have problems against opposing status/toxic users, strong choiced attackers, and against opposing set up pokemon that are immune to thunderwave, or have managed to set up against a different pokemon than Porygon2.
If you feel really passionate about this then it'd be better for your point/Callum will be more likely to listen to you if you posted calcs and reason rather than shitposts.

I'm okay either way with Silvally, however I have a preference that it not be allowed.

Looking at the TM list, it would give bug mono access to a strong special sweeper with Thunderbolt/Ice Beam/Flamethrower/Surf/Flash Cannon. Access to most of those are limited with bugs unless it matches the secondary typing. I can't think of another good bug that gets flamethrower besides Volcarona, etc. And extremely limited with just the Alola dex.

So it's a free high OU sweeper. But it's not just for me. Everyone will have one. I feel like the meta would end up being who knocks out the others' Silvally first with only other Alolamons as support.

I think you're overestimating silvally. It basically gives a few types a check that they need for other types. I wouldn't say it's a "high OU sweeper" by any means. It has a fantastic movepool sure. But it has lackluster 95 SpA and 95 Speed, and can't run an item. I doubt most types will run it, and probably none at all besides maybe ice post bank.
