Even though it was obvious from the start that he was a spin on the "friendly" rival like Bianca. I actually find him to be a nice balance in the middle. A coworker of mine is Hau. He is literally a grown-up version of this fucking cocksucker.

I like him but he everything that could be part of his character development was underdeveloped. Like his father leaving him behind to train because he was tired of being in Hala's shadow, his increasing frustration with losing (it felt like he was starting to hold resentment towards the MC after the Champion Title Challenge) and the focus on his contrast and change with Gladion ended abruptly when both of them got shafted from the plot.
