Why are people using red card when you're essentially praying to RNGesus that they don't switch into something that counters you? Also, Mimikyu even with +spd nature doesn't outspeed many mons, so even with the +2 from the swords dance it used the previous turn, it won't be enough to kill most things (shadow sneak +2 usually does somewhere from 5-%-80% of an opponent's HP on a SE hit, shadow claw will kill but again that's IF you move first)

This set with shadow sneak and life orb and your good to go. Also ONLY go jolly. After SD mimikyu does not need power but speed to make sure it connects play rough and leech life.

Thats why its a sweeper dude. You have to support your sweepers. Mimikyu will need a team that can set up hazards and keep them up, so that eventuallymimikyu can come in, get a free sd after its counters are gone or weakened enough, then sweep with +2 or +4 swords dance lufe orb shadown sneak and play rough

It's a "Get out of sweep free" card.

Always run a Swords Dance and a Shadow Sneak. Disguise means a free buff, and Shadow Sneak allows you to bypass a great many gimmick strats with your massive damage.

People forget this thing is very, very fast in its meta-environment.

Leech Life is very questionable to me, because Bug is just not a great neutral cover, and Fairy is. I replace Leech Life with Pain Split for softening walls before cracking them open.

But if you don't run life orb, you lose the power to reliable OHKO things with play rough/shadow claw. In addition, it is extremely hard for it to sweep if the enemy still has anything that outspeeds it, even assuming its direct counters are gone. Turn 1 it gets its disguise broken, it sets up swords dance, but if it gets outsped it is extremely likely to die even on a neutral hit because of its terrible HP pool.

They go after different teams. Coverage Sweeper Mimikyu supported by set-ups and clerics and a wall+pivot (where if you let the enemy team set up too much you're fucked unless you can cycle their buffed sweeper), vs. menagerie team with a Specialist Sweeper Mimikyu, who is one of 3+ sweepers on the team.

Swords dance with life orb is better, no question. Its stronger and doesn't waste your one z move. Leech life can help if you need to restore some health too though it should only be used when your absolutely sure you'll out speed the opponent and get a good amout of hp back.

Shadow claw works well for me. Since I'm always battling in Psycic Terrain, and Mimikyu already has decent speed I can just focus on pure power. Running only Shadow Sneak can risk the chance of not being able to attack at all.

I run Adamant and use both. Shadow Claw for damage and Shadow Sneak for priority. Same concept as running both Waterfall and Aqua Jet on Azumarill.

why is Jolly used at all? This gen there's either really slow shit or super ultra fast frail sweepers.

Adamant Shadow Sneak seems like the safest bet to take down something after a SD.

Using it wrong

Mimikyu gets a free substitute with the condition that it doesn't block status. So you get a free turn of setup, two if they panic and switch into a counter instead of breaking disguise. From there it does so much stupid damage, and red card can ensure your sweep is secure if mimikyu survives the hit that activates red card. The real benefit of red card, though, is to counter and phaze other setup mons out, letting you stop their sweep and start your own. Mimikyu is an asshole.

Life Orb is pretty much required for Jolly nature, but Adamant nature can viably run almost anything. That's one of the things that's so great about Mimikyu: It has so many options when it comes to held items.
