Dragon breath? isn't that the rarest Lapras? I don't think I have ever heard about a Lapras with Dragon Breath. I have only one Lapras and a Dragon pulse one but I'm walking it and powering it up because in over 1000kms walked, almost 3000 pokemon captured and over 300 eggs I only got one Lapras.

I'm ok, now even if I only have one Dragonite I have more than enough beefy vaporeons to put in gyms so I'm focussing on walking my only Lapras and Dragonite and powering up my mons so I have more high CP things than vaporeons like my Rhydon, my Lapras and my Dragonite~. You only power up a guy by 8 percent from levels 30.5 to 40 but the dust cost is tremendous.

from level 1-2 costs 400 dust has the same cp gain as from level 25-26, but costs 7000 dust

Until lvl 30 only the cost increases but the reward is the same, after lvl 30 the cost keep increasing but the reward is cut in half so you can get only half as much increase per level at a much higher cost and taking much longer to level again.

So 29 to 30 cost 10k dust and 8 candies, to get the same increase again you need to level up twice and cost 23k dust and 22 candies.

Also at lvl 30 your pokemon already is strong enough to get a good position in gyms so it doesn't need to get much more power so it doesn't makes much sense to spend exorbitant amounts of resources to go much further on an already lvl 30 pokemon when you could be using those same resources to power up other mons and get more pokemons to place on gyms.

After all the amount of dust you get never changes during the game, in fact since they buffed attack I get less dust per day since I can't keep many gyms.

But this is not a law, you are not forced to stop powering it up or power it up. If you think it is worth it go ahead and power it up to lvl 40. I still have a dragonite, a Lapras, a Rhydon and I hope I can get a Snorlax that is worth powering up. And after that I will probably start saving for Blissey and Tyranitar.

To me it is like the other games. You can train a single pokemon to lvl 100 but you will be more effective if you train a team as a whole instead of only one pokemon. I used my dust on palmtree and RK9 too but they got nerfed, Now I finally have a decent Dragonite, one Lapras (Dragon pulse but still my only Lapras), waiting for a decent IV Snorlax, and a very good Rhydon so I have way more pokemons to power up than dust I or you could have.

Anyway there is no right way to play a game, if you enjoy focussing all your resources and work on only one favourite pokemon go ahead! I find it more effective to have my personal army.

especially for me its important to be the top dog in a gym because theres a reddit spoofer that comes through occassionally and fights the gym until its as low as possible without finishing it, which means the leader still keeps their spot

Vaporeons, Vaporeon army. Also why is you vaporeon only 2778? Vaporeons are great in the defense no matter the attack it have and in my experience AT ones are the best since they are more likely to cause the bug where you dodge the attack but the game doesn't notice it so you die but them you come back to die again.

I only try to keep a hold on the two nearest gyms to me and I always put dragonite and now the gyarados in it since those two reach the highest
If I'm at other gyms I'll put other things like golem, polidudes or victreebel in them where I won't care as much about having the highest spot

also I follow the mindset that dudes like gyarados that are easier to prestige against are better than having hard things like snorlaxes which are easy for attackers to defeat, but a pain for teammates to prestige with

Why you only have one vaporeon and not even an over 90% vap? Are Eevees that rare where you live? Also Gyarados is good to put as teh first pokemon and them you train the gym to 3999 prestige, them you let other people place their mons and you train against their mons and yours, them when someone place a Snorlax you train until the snorlax and quit~.

You can also put something like a flareon and train it to lvl 9 and them get someone to kick your own flareon so you can put your gyarados.

It's just not very dust efficient is all. I haven't been posting but I did mention that the jump from 30.5-40 only increases your max CP by 8 percent.

So consider the following,
>You have Pokemon X who, at level 40, will have a CP of 3000
>Currently, it's level 30, so it will have a CP roughly around 2760
>To raise that pokemon from level 30-40, it will costs166,000 dust
>To raise a pokemon from level 1-30, it costs 110,000 dust

When you realize you're spending a lot more dust for a little bit of cp gain overall, it just becomes daunting to power up a lot of guys. I'd advise to pick your absolute favorites or best to go the whole 40 for.

I disagree on the second half of the statement. I do agree going from level 1-30 is pointless since you can catch level 30 pokemon as early as level 29, and I'd wager most people go from 20-30 because eggs hatch at level 20.

However, going from 2760 to 3000 would be pointless since that much of a CP difference doesn't make that pokemon much more of a viable defender.

However, I'd say level 30 is a good stopping point since you'd generally have good, high cp choices to battle with for quick takeovers but high enough to stick in a gym.

The extra boost is important when you want a pokemon to stay in a high leveled gym. Even then, as someone stated before, if a person from another team is willing to take down the first few guys at a gym, the last guy having a high cp isn't going to stop them. This is why I advise just choosing your best or favorites to go the distance with.

just an hour ago someone took 8k prestige off the gym nearest to me, and left it at level 4 with 11k remaining
the lowest being a 2750 snorlax
this is actually perfect for your scenario, if someone had boosted up from ~2760 to 2800 they would have had this spot in this gym still while everyone else lower has been knocked out

I don't think that's reason enough to disagree though. If you're only in it for the CP you might as well chuck everything that's not a 100% Dragonite, since that's going to be the highest CP pokemon in general.

Even with my example, the 3000 CP pokemon would stay there if the trainer was at level 40 and no one is at level 40 atm. Considering that the lowest is a 2750 Snorlax, the 2760 pokemon would've stayed regardless of being boosted.

Right now, the problem is that there's no way to hold a stable gym. You basically have to hope that someone doesn't have the time to knock out your gym and an 8% increase in CP isn't going to stop a competent person from battling.

This, but in the end, it's a game that was aimed at kids, so it's always gonna be easy so anyone can battle.

- 270k dust, 304 candy to lv 40.

Difference between lv 30 and lv 40 is 150k dust and 282 candy.

You're effectively doubling the same amount of dust to go from 30 to 40 but the candy total is almost tripled.

A friend asked me what I was going to do with this Seadra once Gen II comes out because clearly Kingdra will also have anti-Dragon moves and I didn't know what to say.

Given that this guy is good enough and I have some meh-moveset Seadras sitting in storage, I can probably just afford to keep him and evolve the others instead.

Then he asked if I was going to keep powering him up and I didn't know what to say to that either. Probably not until I'm lv 40 or something since it's lv 33 now and it can take out Dragonites fine.

This city's actually safer than most of the state because the military is all up on this bitch, it used to be pretty bad though, but that's the reason why they're here.

Gyms are mainly active because people want coins and stardust, not because it's fun to battle.
Coins and stardust (indirectly via incubators) can be bought.
That's why the gym system suck and they're not gonna change it. They do want gyms to be active so players don't quit thinking they're playing a dead game.

Are there any rules for nests? Like do they only appear on certain days?

The only nest near me is super inconsistent. Some days I'll capture 3-4 Growlithes, then the next day I won't even see one on the radar. Playing in the exact same route at the same time.

Ghastly is just fucking annoying, and I always have bad luck with their dodge/attack RNG
