it's still stupid as fuck because it only works for level 100 pokemon. So if you breed something and not worry about the IVs, just egg moves and nature or whatever, you'd still have to go through the massive as fuck grind in S/M just to level it to cap because GF didnt bother giving any good leveling boosters in the game

Leave it to an unintended exploit to make a feature of the game useful/usable at all instead of a conscious game design by Game Freak.

The same thing happened with hatching eggs and the Tauros box, completely unintended solution to GF's incompetence. They must have a pact with some elder god because somehow their fuckups always get "fixed" with shit like this people find.

This IV breeding was always an unforeseen development to Gamefreak, but they keep it going to add a false sense of depth to battling. There's literally nothing more shallow about constructing a team than IVs values.

They're completely pointless fluff that add nothing to the game except an excuse to spend dozens of hours walking around and hatching eggs to max them out per pokemon.

Do you think they're on the same level as deciding EVs or move sets? Is there any opportunity cost or strategy at all for IVs?

I injected 999 gold bottle caps and about 10k Rare Candies on my save.

It's the only save editing you ever need. Just this one edit at one time can save you copious amounts of time, speed up your team building to almost nothing, and still guarantee 100% legit in-game generated Pokemon forever.
No need to extract/edit/inject your save every time you want a new Pokemon, no risk of getting caught with bad hacks (and possibly being banned since GF/Nintendo have shown they aren't kidding around anymore), nothing, just free level 100 and maxed stats for any Pokemon you catch or breed yourself.

It's the superior way to play the game.

You can look up the combinations for yourself, but Hidden Power makes how the game handles IVs even more retarded. Without using software that is completely separate from the game, how do you determine your IV values if they're no 0 or 31? The game will only tell you for sure if your IV is "the worse" or "can't get better".

It's all fucking ridiculous. Hidden Power itself should have been revamped before genVI in how to assign a typing to it. I don't know a single player using Hidden Power sets that doesn't use Powersaves or similar software to accomplish it, because going through the game's process is a goddamn nightmare or vague bullshit.
