I feel like they deliberately toned down Wishiwashi because it was only the second totem.

I mean, its only attack is Water Gun, it Soaks everything half the time so you resist it, and you need strong attackers to take it down with Alomomola helping it.

... which would be a problem if Alomomola ever appeared. Totems only summon their better helper first if they're below 50% HP. Wishiwashi is bulky enough that you can attack it, deal some damage, get small fry Wishiwashi to appear, ignore it, and chip away at the totem.

I turned it off when I saw how overleveled I was after the water trial. But catching Pokemon for dex completion also kept me stupidly high until I stopped doing that too.

I swear they changed the AI. Back in XY, trainers outside of cheating postgame shit wouldn't know the difference between using harden and using earthquake on a flying type. Now, the moment you try to get out of a status effect, they brute force it until either they die, or you're out of restores. Fucking bullshit.
