In Smogon OU you can literally lead with Garchomp and set-up a Swords Dance or predict a switch with a move of yours and outright sweep from the damage just because of it.

In VGC Garchomp outclasses all other Physical hitters because of it's power and speed as well. The only reason you'd run something over it is because of Trick Room gimmicks or you have a way to make your team faster without it.

Mega Garchomp makes a beast of a tank, but only when paired with Tyranitar or it's family of Sandstreamers is where it really shines, and even then it is better to make Tyranitar your Mega and give Chompers Sand Veil so RNG hijinx can ensue.

Both the OU dragon pseudos have defense/passive damage oriented abilities. Dragonite has Multiscale and Garchomp Rough Skin. Salamence wasn't OU in Gen 6 until his mega came and was deemed broken. And Salamence was the one with this will increase my damage ability in Moxie
