I actually remember my first team of my first playthrough, which I didn't complete.

It was on Yellow version and team consisted of a lvl 40+ Dugtrio, and Pikachu, Pidgeotto, Charmeleon, Wartortle and Butterfree on levels all between 15-25. I was so confident in my Dugtrio I didn't play with any other Pokémon after I caught it since it wrecked Lt. Surge. When I was challenged to a link battle with my classmates I obviously lost and and they mocked me. I was so devastated that I just started over.

I was young, so my dad got me a Game Shark and told me how to edit a code to get any Pokemon. I didn't think to go outside of the range 01-97 until my third playthrough, which my team consisted entirely of glitch Pokemon. All of my good memories of gen 1 are from experimenting with other template-based codes to create "custom Pokemon". I remember making a really bulky Ghost/Dragon Lapras that knew Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, and a couple OP as fuck glitch moves, turning Charizard into a Dragon type, and using the Old Man as one of my Pokemon.

Ah, you and I had quite similar teams, OP. I have no recollection of if I ever completed the first two gens but I'm certain for Sapphire I played through, I just can't remember it. For Diamond it was:

-Gastrodon
-Floatzel
-Abomasnow/Dialga/Giratina

I'm not too sure on the last two besides the legendary, but I remember once I got to the post game Gastrodon Luxray and Floatzel were swapped out for Rhyperior, Camerupt and Scizor. Dialga might have been swapped for Tyranitar but I can't really recall.

I kinda just had a really buff Charizard.
A Snorlax that got to like 50 something cause of the exp all and a level 39 Pidgeot.

I was a dumb kid. First actual team I remember using was like Typhlosian, Espeon, Kingler, Bellosom, and Golem. can't for the life of me remember my last guy. That was like my second play through of Gold.


I traded that charizard and snorlax to my silver and the battery died so they're gone. Somehow that Pidgeot on my red is still kicking and could very well be the first pokemon I ever caught.

I was 11 when Red came out, so I at least had some bare minimum of sense when putting this together. Blastoise because my best friend picked Charmander, Pidgeot was a Route 1 acquisition who stayed with me, Raichu because Pikachu was the mascot, Gengar because ghosts were/are "cool", Omastar because I was big into Jurassic Park and liked the idea of resurrecting fossils, and Scyther because he was my first-ever TCG card (and holofoil too) and I thought he looked cool.

Scyther (as Scizor) and Gengar even made the jump to Silver as part of the schoolyard battling team, and both are still around on my copy of Stadium 2.

when i was like 6 my brother taught me how to se a action replay so I'm pretty sure i just used my empoleon and spawned in a level 2 giratina in a master ball. I think I also used a gengar from the mansion.

I honestly don't remember my gen 1 team, my endgame was just jamming every legendary bird and Mewtwo onto a team plus Alakazam and something else
