I personally feel Golispod is the best. It's got it's own play style and in the right hands its a monster revenge killer.

In battle spot without Volcrona I feel Ribombee deserves special mention. It's obscenely strong and can pull off a sweep, clean up real good late game after things have taken chip damage. Wondering how it stacks up to the newly buffed Masquerain..

Araquanid is also really good, but the lack of recovery hurts. In Mono bug its a solid answer to fire. It's biggest issue is being outclasses without that restriction leaving it in a niche use.

Vikavolt is better then you'd be led to believe despite the meddling speed, Gliscor can be used to PB agility to an AoA set and the two cover eachother pretty well. A slow Volt Switcher has many its own merits as well. Charge + Z-Zap Cannon is seeing use as a free OHKO as long as nothing is immune.

As far as design goes I knew Grubbin was going to be my baby and Im reluctant right now, just because it's new but I am very close to going so far to say it has my favorite design of all pokemon.

Because it contains Araquanid, Ariados, Mega Beedrill, Scoliopede, Scyther and Scizor.

Vikavolt is pretty good though. It can pretty much sweep Kahili, and is a lot better in general than people like to admit, I think. Bug Buzz, Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, and HP Ice hits a lot and pretty hard, with survivability being a bit of an issue of course. But it does hit like truck.
I like to pair it with Power of Alchemy Alolan Muk its neat

OFFICIAL GEN RATINGS BY THEIR BUGS
1. Unova
Absolute great bugs and a shit ton at that. Gen 5 brought justice to bugs.
2. Johto
They were a bitch to get often but the bugs of johto are some of the best. Great designs like heracross, scizor, shuckle, and forretress. Yeah ledian exists but one dud doesn't ruin the greats.
3. Alola
Great designs and unique in battle. The alola bugs are a bit weird but are quite interesting in terms of bugs.
4. Hoenn
Things fall off from here. After the silver age that was johto things kinda went bad for bugs. There were some interesting ones like ninjask, shedinja, and masquerain but nothing insane.
5. Sinnoh
Sinnoh bugs are pretty weak. None of the real new ones like kirketune or vespiqueen were really good and less said about the burmy evolutions the better. Yanmega was great.
6. Kanto
Unfortunately the bugs of kanto are, or at least started, quite weak. They were either early shitmon (butterfree and beedrill) or insanely outclassed (pinsir, scyther, venomoth, and parasect). Fortunately megas and new evolutions helped some but not for awhile.
7. Kalos
One fucking bug line, just one.

Its not a terrible line but a single bug is disgusting.

Entrainment Water Bubble Araquanid for doubles, maybe? Don't know what kind of help it would be for a scizor or a durant to have water bubble protecting it from fire, but it's a start at least.
