Keep in mind that the reason Red was on Mt. Silver is because he was the only previous protag that existed. I could be wrong, but I just have a feeling that GF will never ever confirm one gender cannon over the other. The closest we've got to another protagonist returning is scrapped content from BW2 that implies Hilda and Hilbert were both going to appear.
