If you look at the animation, for instance, that was meant to appeal to kids with cute designs and so on. I'm glad I was right. I think the anime is what makes people think Pokemon is specifically targeted towards kids.

It is targeted towards Kids though, but they make it secretly complex so that people of all ages can enjoy it.
I dunno why you people keep wanting Pokemon to be edgy/non kid friendly. If you're a fan of the series you don't have to make up reasons for why it isn't a kiddy series, just enjoy it regardless.
