To be fair Drapion evolves from a bug type. It makes way more sense for Aaron to have a Drapion than say, his fellow elite 4 member Flint to have Lopunny, Steelix and Drifblim.

Some of their teams were cool and it was nice to see them breaking the mold of monotype E4, which is pants on head retarded imo, but their character designs are blander than most Gym Leaders. Even Kalos E4 of all things were less forgettable.
