How much does the metagame affect your love for your favorite Pokemon?

Most of my favorites are Psychics and/or Fairies, so they're all viable in some capacity. I can't say the same for others, though. Must be rough.

Most of my favs are shitmons or UU at most. I still use them though and still win about half of the time on the basis that people just aren't used to fighting things that aren't OU so they don't really know how to counter them effectively.(im assuming since thats the only way i can justify my wins)

Most of my favorite mons were BL or UU in Gen 6

I love celesteela but it really grinds my balls playing against it

The fun of competitive pokemon for me is finding creative sets to make a team work. I had a lot of fun successfully using Golurk as a counter to Terrakion and other shit like that.

I respect the people who want to push the game to its limit, and find the most optimal strategy though. For pokemon, that isn't how I enjoy it

I have unironically liked Landoge since Gen 5. It's been one of my most reliable mons for years.

Same with Lucario. There is always one in my in game league team.

I actually have very few "bros" that aren't ubers or top tier OU. Pic related has been my fave since Gen 3 and even IT is an uber now

It's presence in the meta was the reason it became my favorite pokemon, and then gen 7 happened.

Nothing at all. I use what I like and try to make them work as best as possible, knowing they aren't the best and accepting it. The ones that ARE good are happy coincidences Garchomp for example.

the meta made me love clefairy; but my fav mons usually are crap or meh at best, like chandelure or leafeon, I still use them though.
