Just a quality of life scenario. Synchronizers aren't always the best to use in situations like chaining, so it'd be nice to send out something optimized for the situation while still getting a nice nature, instead of switching out your synchronizer whenever you find something.
Synchronize still works if the mon is fainted. It's always worked like that. The issue in SM is that if you're SoS chaining, the fainted synchronizer only works for the first pokemon encountered, since after that you immediately throw out a battle-ready pokemon, moving THAT ONE to the top of the list.

You use TWO synchronize pokemon, a fainted one at the head of your party with the nature you want and one that you chain with, and the game will activate synchronize but use the nature of the fainted first synchronizer, supposedly
