All Trial Captains are below 20. The Kahunas themselves range from late too early thirties like Olivia. Mid to early 40/50's like Nanu. Or even in the 60 range like Hala.
Hapu is the only oddball, but that's just because it's hard to tell if she's a literal midget or just a fairly young girl.

The problem with that is that he graduated and he's looked up to by the kids there. 17 probably isn't far off base-- I personally pin him at 18~19, probably the latter, as it is mentioned he traveled abroad to study. That he evidently acts as a tutor makes me think he has to be an adult, anyway.

The thing that makes me think that Mina's significantly older than Ilima is the fact that she's a lot taller than him and in the game, if you're referred to as 'boy' specifically, that means you're younger.

Even Gladion doesn't refer to Hau as boy and he seems to be slightly older than him. I'm just saying there has to be a pretty large age gap there.

Lana, Kiawe and Mallow would all be around the same age as they act like cohorts. If you have a friend much younger than you you do tend to treat them a little different, especially if you are under 20 or so and they're still a kid.

I'd put them around 17-19 with Mallow being the oldest at nearly 20. Lana looks to be the youngest but is obviously over 18, at least in the English localisation, because she is pretty much lusting over the possibility of swimmer cock throughout her entire trial. NoA have proved overcautious of late when it comes to possible depictions of racy stuff involving under 18s in games so its unlikely they'd just wave on something like that through. Kiawe looks like he's between the two of them. So for ages they are probably:

She was never a captain, the only captain of Poni island was Mina.

Hapu is the daughter of the previous kahuna, his deceased father. Father was dead for at least a couple of years before the start of the game and its Tapu didn't choose a new Kahuna until the game happened.

Hapu started traveling to convince the Tapu that she was the perfect replacement, and the Tapu chose her once after the game events kicked in, probably because the only other option was Mina, a captain who prefers to ditch her responsabilities to do recreational stuff.
