So just for clarification, i get why Lightning Rod is more desired than Rock Head, but what is Lightning Rod A-Marowak really good for besides a hard counter to Tapu Koko? In the current meta, what else does Lightning Rod cover?
Why don't you fuck off
>>30351088
t. Mad Tapu/Pheromosa user
>>30351075
A-Raichu and Xircuitree. Flare Blitz OHKOs Celesteela.
>Counters Tapu Koko and Xurkitree completely
>Counters pretty much every UB
>Ability gives it another immunity, and even if it only checks one or two mons, having a complete immunity to a type which is being used a lot more is very beneficial
>>30351075
Xurkitree, Manectric, Magnezone, Porygon-Z (the usual set)
>>30351134
Yeah I know about Celesteela, I have an A-Marowak with Rock Head, I'm just wondering if I should be running LR instead
>>30351148
Didn't think of Xurkitree or A-Raichu desu
It lets you switch in for no damage on anything from T-Wave to T-Bolt so your Pelipper/Toxapex gets away scot free and then you have a bulky as fuck mon on the field that will win 1v1 against the entire OU meta at full health with so much attack nothing can switch in
That is much better than >muh non-STAB Double Edge
>>30351165
>Manectric
>pre-bank-compatability SM Meta
?
>>30351189
That's not what Rock Head is wanted for. He's talking about using a recoil-free STAB Flare Blitz vs. Immunity to electric moves.
To OP, well, I personally also want to use one with Rock Head, as I've always wanted a Flare Blitz user without recoil. Took them a while to make one. Now, if that's better than L-Rod competitively? Probably not, according to the rest of the people here.
>>30351339
You're pretty much not going to use Flare Blitz more than twice in a real battle unless it's a Trick Room sweep.
>>30351195
>Playing Pre-bank
Just skip to Pokebank OU
But...a-marowak doesn't have rock head. It has cursed body
>>30351405
Bank OU is literally 70% old OU or people with 5 old mons and 1 new one
>>30351442
HA is rock head m8
>>30351442
A-Marowak's hidden ability is Rock Head.
>>30351462
>>30351470
Oh, that changes things. Thanks guys
>>30351148
Also an immunity to Thunder Wave, one of the more common status moves.
>>30351075
Lightning types will often bring ice or grass moves to hit ground type switchins super effectively.
Guess what types Alolawak resists.
>>30351075
Making Xurkitree and Tapu Koko worthless and countering Magnezone traps makes it instantly OU.
>>30351075
Fuck off I made the thread originally and I thought that everyone got cleared up on there.
>>30351461
And this is different from every new generation how?
>>30354527
You underestimate how shit /vp/ is at competitive outside of practicing the same old Smogon can vgc arguments
