Random battles I think.
Random battles actually currently sees more battles than OU.
But even if you take out randbats OU still isn't a majority of showdown battles.

Here's the graph with randbats removed. It's not just a fluke either, "alternative formats without randbats" collectively saw roughly the same number of battles as OU in october. (2601426 other formats, 2826944 for OU)
Note that that was actually a pretty good month for OU, now that I check.
OU got only 1185634 battles in may, while the other formats got 2340552.

OU has been on a downward trend ever since gen V. XY has given it a boost after release, but the shit, overcentralized and mostly overpowered meta has made the downward trend even worse. I don't think mostly unrestricted singles are going to stay for very long.

But I can tell you that VGC2015 averaged at about 500k battles/month (while OU got around 1.5m typically in 2015)
VGC2016 initially sustained the same number, but soon died down a bit to about 300-400k battles/month.
