It could well be that a lot of clothing is honestly uncomfortable, and that kind of shirt isn't, so the simple and obvious solution is to just get a shitload of them because - like the last point notes - it's what works for her.
I'm the same way. A lot of clothing is just...itchy and/or feels overly restraining. Especially anything with stuff printed on it. Oversize monochromatic tshirts are nice.

But pictures, written words, stuff like that? It can well be easier for someone to find it easier to explain what they're trying to get at than speaking. Nonverbal can mean a lot of things.

Mina (and to some extent Nanu) are refreshing parts of a story that otherwise has everyone EXCITED BY PASSIONS and DRIVEN BY OBSESSIONS and STRIVING TO PROVE THEMSELVES. Mina just /is/, she doesn't impose on anyone, she doesn't have some burning goal or need to paint something specific. She just goes out and experiences nature. It would be neat if she popped up more often just to tell you it's okay not to go headlong.

Mina is a painter and Ilima's ace is a Smeargle, Ilima is a trendy and perfectionist competitive fuccboi and Mina's ace is a Rimbombee with its comfy and clean scarf.

I believe they have intentionally made this way however, Ilima's whole point was teaching you to not judge or assuming things someone from their aspect, turned out Ilima wasn't a Whitney or early game story Wally 2.0 character wise and didn't use Wigglytuff, Granbull and such as everyone would have bet, Mina however is some forgettable garbage anyway. Her team is more memorable than her character.
