You still get the win if they just disconnected on their end, and you get the majority of the game as practice.
I understand wanting to see the "You win" screen, but practically speaking there's no downside.

If it's a rated battle, do you still get a win?

It's been almost 20 years and I never bothered to battle her ever again.
