Araquanid Z-power scald has probably over 100KO's for me, honestly it's ridiculous how much damage he pumped out, shame his ability is shit in both translation and execution

I was so salty about Pikipek kinda sucking at first, but I threw him in the back while I leveled Pikachu and when I got to the first Totem Fight that lil SOB came out swinging with Brick Break and shat on Raticate. He just punches through those slow but fuckhard hitting mons like they aint even shit.

And Mudscale is so bro, when my firetype got fucking crit oneshot by Totem Lurantis' solar blade, he ate not one, not two, but THREE blades and had HP to spare while I revived and healed my other pokemon.

Pretty much every totem fight Toucan or Mudsdale switched in to either revenge kill a helper or do some maintenance instead of just picking 'le strong type' and sweeping like gyms.

Also started with Rowlet, but I got a Popplio through Wonder trade and decided to slap it on my team just to get the dex entries, and she really came out swinging for me too. She's no where near as fragile as I imagined she would be, unlike Dartrix who folds whenever he gets wiffed by a feather duster.

God fucking damn it, I am sure Emergency Exit might be useful in some builds, but it made him next to useless on the last two islands and endgame, AND he doesn't learn any decent water moves until way later.

Honestly, no one was really a sweeper or indestructible on my team, which was a breath of fresh air for once. I was also massively under-leveled for the most part due to turning off EXP share at the beginning, but it made it so much more fun.

Anybody else annoyed by the imbalanced leveling in this game? Using the EXP share makes everything piss easy, so I always shut it off. The game was still easy as fuck, until the very end when suddenly all of the trainers and the E4 are now like 10 levels higher than me. I don't want to grind, but pretty much all of my Pokemon are going down in one or two hits, even when they resist the enemy's attack.

I like to turn on Exp Share once I enter the Elite 4 chamber. The first few battles are an enormous challenge if you go Set/no Exp Share/have only 5 Pokemon (I brought along Nebby for Lillie but refuse to use it, even as a meat shield), but you can usually gain a couple of levels inside the building and even the odds a bit.

Emergency Exit is amazing on Set. I ran a team of Pikachu, Vikavolt, Golisopod, Bewear, Mimikyu, and Solgaleo as team cheerleader against the League, and Volt Switch/Emergency Exit chains definitely helped a ton.

Here's my two teams. Sun on the Right currently at the final stretch of the anther paradise raid, about to fight Ya Boi. Second is Moon which I finished on like Monday or Sunday. MVP of Sun is definitely Passimian who is a monster, thinking about dropping Tortunator for Kommo-o though. MVP for Moon was undoubtedly Mimikyu or Incineroar, disguise is a fucking ridiculous ability and Budget Tony was great through and through.

I'm not ridiculously over leveled and I've left it on the whole game. I'm about where I should be, even a little under, and every totem has been a solid challenge.

Are you actually catching and using more than 2-3 pokemon? Because ALL Pokemon games suffer from over leveling when you centralize around one or two mons. "I'll just mash my fire cat into the water challenge until I win forever! Wow why am I so much higher level when I literally don't use anything else?"

I change up my roster frequently and use a variety of Pokemon. Some because I like them, some because they're good, some because they fill a niche or counter some annoying mechanic like fucking Heal Pulse on Wishwashi.

If you only used the exact same team forever and never change it up or vary it, of course you're going to over level, because you're not playing the game correctly and you're brute forcing it. And sure, it works, but you're here complaining about it so you're obviously not having fun doing it that way.

Golisopod's inherent durability meant that it usually had 2-3 turns before it'd drop below half. All you need is that first turn for First Impression to obliterate anything that doesn't resist Bug, and seriously dent anything that does. Sucker Punch to priority dunk, and Leech Life for hard hitting sustain. I usually had Brick Break in the 4th slot for bonus coverage, but swapped to Liquidation later game.

By the time Golisopod's ability got triggered, it would already have taken out 1-3 pokemon, at which point coming back was a beneficial thing. I would swap in Vikavolt with Volt Switch or Wishiwashi with U-turn for a slow switch to give Golisopod another opening for First Impression.

Golisopod is a fucking boss.

I got one with a +SpA -Def nature and it was so fragile the entire game that it died from any crunch, leech life or sucker punch.

Still had a spot on my league team and pulled its weight, but wasn't one of the stars.

Muk with Black Sludge and Protect was the ultimate panic button. I was on Set with no Exp Share or in-battle item usage, and every time I was backed into a corner, that magnificent fucker refused to die. I won the Champion battle by a level 52 Muk with 23 HP left.

Really though, everyone pulled their weight. Upon victory I looked back at my team and realized that every single one of them played a vital role in some aspect of the E4, and if I were missing one of them I would have failed. I don't think in all the plays and replays and challenge runs in Pokemon games I've done over the years that that's ever happened for me before.
