This thing is such bullshit, I've been sitting here for two hours trying to get Mimikyu to appear for a photo and I only get the Gastly family instead. Is there a special condition to be applied for it to appear or do I really need to grind for the 1.5mil points after which I can just call it to appear?

It appeared for me after about 30 minutes of trying. I think it can appear either running or just walking from the left side of the screen, and it takes a while for it to actually start walking.
I got around 17,000 likes from a good photo of it, so it's not a huge dent in 1.5mil.
I'd suggest going to the bridge on Vast Poni Canyon and trying for Lucario because it showed up for me first time and I got 22k from that.

I took photos each time if the Gastly/Haunter/Gengar were in good positions, cause might as well get some points while you wait.
Otherwise I exited the Pokefinder and opened it up again.
