How does one unlock the national dex in sun and moon?
You can't. National Dex is PokéBank-exclusive for at least this gen.
Anon, you poor, sweet, innocent child...
There just... Is none.

You're joking right? . . .

Nope.

Basically you can't teach Rayquaza Dragon Ascent at the Seafolk Pokémon Center until January 2017.

A yearly payment of $5.00 starting this January :^)not joking

You don't even get to see the pokedex number of any non-Alola mon on their summary screen. Its pretty damn pathetic, especially when considering they could have simply copy-pasted the XY/ORAS entries.

Jokes on you, I already paid my yearly fee back in July
Wait so does this mean you can only view the national pokedex from the pokebank itself? Can the pokebank see all the pokemon in your game or do you have to put them in there in order to be registered? I was fine with them making you have to purchase pokebank in order to receive the national pokedex but making it completely out of the game itself is really annoying.

Yes.
>The application will read your saved data from any games* you connect with it, collecting information about Pokémon you’ve caught, so you can check it.
So the national dex is now account-based instead of game-based. If you connect a gen VI game in where you caught them all with Bank the national dex of gens I-VI is also filled in Bank.

Well I guess that isn't too bad. I just wish they could have made a way to access the national pokedex in the actual game too. Guess it might be better in the long run with all of the future games and the change from 3ds to the Switch.
