I know it's possible to soft-reset for a shiny Type: Null, after showing my friend, he decided he would soft reset for the Porygon you receive in the Aether house to try and get it shiny. But he's been doing it for 3 days now and I want to make sure it's actually possible for Porygon because I don't want him to waste anymore time. So, is it possible?

Only legendaries are shiny locked typically. If null isn't locked then I imagine porygon isn't. Porygon is breedable too, if he wants an honest shiny porygon then he should breed it so it has good IVs and Nature.

Shiny null is legal though, you can in fact get one without hacking. It just can't be bred, only one you get is the one from gladion.
Porygon is more convenient as it is breedable, why his friend doesn't breed it is stupid.
