This, I thought SM would be XY babby tier so I started running through the game with only litten and yungoos expecting nothing to stop me.

after the trainer school gave me some actual trouble against things like grimer, magnemite and meowth, I decided to flesh out my team and got a pikipek because I wanted to try out Skill Link. And holy shit, Toucannon did not disappoint. Loved using it.

I didn't like mine much. Its defensive stats/typing don't really work well with a signature move that always goes second. Flame Charge was never quite enough to kill and Fury Attack has no coverage. Replaced it soon after it evolved.

It's a preetty good birb.

It's typing is nothing special but you already knew that. It's attack stat is great, but it is slow, and it's defences are only somewhat above average, making him rather frail for a slow attacker.

It's movepool is pretty good however. It has several options for potent stab attcks, inclluding beak blast, which is actually pretty good. it has some good coverage moves with skill link. It's physical options against steel types are limited (it's best bet is flame charge, which is too puny), but it's special attack is actually alright, and with specs he can run a good special set including overheat.

Beak blast deserves a specia mention. It makes you hit last, but with toucannons speed that's not much of a downside, but it burns everyone who uses a contact move against you in that turn. This makes it ideal for fucking with the minds of physical attackers and throwing them off (not to mention that the 100bp stab hit after that is not very attractive either).

Overall, it has it's flaws, but also several rare or unique strenghts, and has the uncertainty factor on it's side. I actually quite like it.

I want to get a toucan and make him as angry as him.

I really like how he turned out. Hated the design initially but it grew on me, I like that he's not just a toucan but is more of an original design based on toucans. Ingame lore is cool too, the "heat" aspect of it is nicely demonstrated with the beak colors. Cool shiny too.

For competitive, I imagine he'll be running LO or choice sets in the lower tiers as a good wall breaker. Overheat and Brick Break will be good options for anything that can take a Beak Blast. Maybe people can run some bulky pivot sets with Beak Blast and U-Turn.

Overall, very versatile, not stupidly broken like Talonflame, not one note like Staraptor or Spearow, not shit like Unfezant or Noctowl, not "I need a major buff to make me good" like Pidgeot. Potentially best regional bird yet.

Toucans are definitely not birds for the average person, but smaller parrots are actually very easy to take care of and can be very sweet pets. Vacuum once or twice a week, let them out to exercise but don't let them roam free at will, and don't let them become too dependent on you for entertainment and companionship because that's when they become screechy. So basically have two birds instead of one. Their biggest downside is definitely their capacity to create huge messes out of nothing, but it's easy to contain it to one or two rooms, and if you stay on top of things it takes little effort to keep things clean.

Bourkes in particular are quiet, calm, and make very little mess, and they have a beautiful song.
