Is it true that there are two Cosmog you can obtain in the game, or is there just the one?

So I'm trying to catch the ultra beasts. Currently I'm trying to catch the mosquito one. I accidentally killed it so I soft reset to try and catch it again, but when I run around in the grass, not showing up. Is this supposed to happen? Am I supposed to just keep running in the tall grass through all of these normal Pokemon encounters until I get lucky? Or am I supposed to get the ultra beast encounter first time?

Correct. However, that only really matters if you actually want to put the time into it/need to breed extra.

If you just want to battle with it, the only things you need to pay attention to now are Nature, egg moves, and maybe Hidden Power if you need it.
