There's an NPC in the desert who wants to see one depending on the version. He can't remember their names and says "Sol.." and "Luna..", so if you show him box legends he has different dialogue.

No, they both got +20 base HP, Solrock got Flare Blitz and Lunatone Power Gem. Should have been in the dex too, but it's better than nothing.

I always wonder how they decide what pokemon will appear in a regional dex. Do they just throw darts at a board?

For SM, GameFreak was considering VGC.
Then they did a few pounds of coke and made the UBs and Tapus, which will dominate VGC until the Genies eventually join them.

Still slow and fragile, but they were both pretty usable for in game regardless, they're just a little better now.

Competitive not really though I still use Solrock as a Trick Room suicide lead just cause I love Solrock.
