Actually, it's perfectly fine to do so. It's a simple expectations/reality situation. SM has XY's shoes to fill, whether you like it or not. A "born to the wrong family" kind of ordeal. It sucks for SM, but there's next to nothing that can done about it other than suck it up.

That said, we'll see how things go along. Right now, it might be a tad too early to make assumptions with regard to SM's overall progression.

If it wasn't for XY /padt/ wouldn't have existed in the way it does now. It was pretty much non-existent during BW. It got created because XY was that good that the anime got taken a lil bit more seriously and earned its own place on /vp/ before that it was a joke. And now it's turning into a joke again therefore these threads won't last long.

I don't know what it is, but the animation style change and new cast actually makes the show super enjoyable to me, and I've hated watching everything to do with the Pokemon anime since Season fucking 2 ended. SuMo anime feels like a palette cleanser.

I'm hoping it's secretly the popularity of Pokemon Generations that has had an effect on the show somehow, but I know better than to get my hopes up.

This is possible. Now that I think about it, anime Lillie might be a prequel to game Lillie's conflict. Say, this is all before Lillie meets Cosmog. When we get to the Aether Foundation introduction, Lillie reveals to Ash and co. that Lusamine is her mom, but they "aren't on good terms with eachother", which is why Lillie decided to enroll in the Pokemon school. Note that this isn't like how she ran away, so Lusamine is tolerant in welcoming her daughter back but will probably scold Lillie on leaving. Que the rest of the episode where Ash and co. are given a tour of Aether paradise, with Lillie slipping away and finding Cosmog being cruelly experimented on.

But I still wonder how they'll tie in anime Lillie's fear of Pokemon. It'll obviously be explained as having something to do with Lusamine.
